Not sure if anyone noticed it yet, but there's no powerkit available for the Targa. At least not yet... Maybe this is because the powerkit won't fit becuase of the roofpanel, that's right above the engine.

That doesn't bode well for my hope of a turbo targa.

The best thing about my 997 targa was the light from the glass roof and the elegance of driving it at night. I rarely opened it, just like most sunroofs. With the light and panoramic view from the 997 targa, I had no reason to open it. It was the best of all worlds. The light and and panoramic view close to a cab, in all weather without the wind. Not sure if this targa design will deliver that same benefit.

I understand why you like that benefit. However, I think it is not how a Targa was meant to be. With the glass sunroof available for the coupe, a Targa like the previous three generations wouldn't make sense IMO.
I like the idea of this and the original Targa. You still have the "open air experience" of a cab, but slightly more protected from wind and weather and without the odd looks of the cabriolet. (Although that is a matter of taste of course).
It's a little bit like my current Boxster, but with a more spacious feel inside the cabine.

Like I said, it's a matter of personal taste and I don't have intentions to offend anyone. Personally I like the cab with the roof down, but not with the roof up. But I don't like any (well with a few exceptions) convertible with the roof up. Even my own Boxster doesn't look that well, although better than most cabs, because of the tiny roof.

I'm just more of a coupe-person I guess

Oh and BTW.... I'm not allowed to drive topless around here in Switzerland. They'd put me in jail for it!

I've been in the nonlovers camp for some time. But now I see those pics of the black one I'm starting to turn around.

Funny detail. I read on a Dutch forum the MT will be more expensive than the PDK on the Targa in The Netherlands !

One reason I've never gotten a cab is that I don't think it looks very good with the top up.. The lines are ruined.. (Although the 991 is better in this regard than 997) But with the top down the cab is gorgeous..

But This is just fugly.. No thanks and it still looks a bit smokey and bandit TA..
+++1 I never liked the look of the Targa. But to each his (or her) own .

Yes indeed. That's because they have a CO2-based tax (called BPM) on every car's pricetag. The PDK is more efficient, so less CO2 output and because of that slightly less CO2-penalty.

I think the Targa looks just fine. design-wise it flows. It offers yet another choice for getting what appeals to the buyer, even as it offers no particular other advantages since the Cab is so well engineered (stiffer and the engine no longer needs a hydraulic damper to not shake itself out of the car as the original chop top did). It's operation is sure to be a parking lot attraction. Still, compared to the "targa" solution of the new Vette (very lightweight carbon fiber panel that takes a couple of minutes to remove and clip into place in the trunk), it says something discomforting.

Powerkit is not available for the Targa models. So if someone wants more hp, aftermatket is the only way to get it...

Let's agree to disagree on this one. I find P-car well balanced and the current trend for more hp does not make better cars. A good example is the Jag F-type that is a much more balanced and usable car with the V6S engine than with the V8S.
Also, based on what I see on the track, with the obvious exception of Godzilla, the C2S with only 400 hp is faster than most of the other cars.
If you want more power in a 911, just buy a Turbo

Back to the original topic: whether you like the looks or not, the new Targa roof is a beautiful piece of engineering and that alone is enough for me!

+1 on the black one in the video! Red full leather with black dash (I like two tones on open cars) and it would be awesome!
