Add another 10k for clear bra, radar, wheel package ( a must on our local roads, and the remote button that lets your put up the top without being in the car, oh and taxes - it costs money to divert traffic from the GW Bridge - and you are in Turbo land.
It's indeed pretty expensive, but not more expensive than the cabriolet. However... I was adding some options (not totally crazy like I normally would!) and I easily got to a price of CHF 210k ($230k). That's indeed in Turbo land, but then again, you need to put the same options on the Turbo and that will even get more expensive

For a weekend car, that is a lot of money... My Boxster S was CHF115k ($126k) new and offers, in my case, at least 90% of the fun....
It would be a different story if I wanted the car as a daily driver. Boxster can never match a 991 as a DD, although practicallity of the Boxster is really good with its frunk and trunk.

Hi Suzy,
I was able to drive a Cayman S last time I was in Munich and it is a great car - given the beautiful backdrop of your Avatar, a drop top seems ideal. And the styling of the new Boxter/Cayman is fantastic. I have only three problems with it: 1) even less power and low end torque; 2) I am 6'2" and 230 lbs - the Cayman is too small for me - it is just a bit too narrow and just not enough head room; and 3) I fell in love with 911s. It is not rational. There certainly could be "better" cars. There are more stylish cars (Maserati and Aston). But I am a Carrera guy (oh, and Mustangs - it is a weakness (or my wife would say sickness!))

I have enjoyed your posts!
Michael

There is a fraction of a turbo scoop for a faction a second. Personally I think a turbo targa would be the ultimate dd Porsche.

It's hard to see, you really have to watch the video a few times too notice it. I think the Targa Turbo would be an amazing DD, but the price tag might be a little overwhelming.

I only quibble with your use of the phrase "a little"!

Pause the video at 28 seconds or 30 seconds. You can make out the Turbo scoop in the rear fender.

But I will forget about that extra weight every time I look at it. Remember that the Targa isn't all about performance, it's also about style.

And although it is one of the heaviest 911's available, it probably won't top 3,600 lbs which is still lighter than my old e46 M3 convertible was at 3,800 lbs.
The weight is a bummer for sure but it will still be a serious performer. I used to track my 997.1 targa a lot and it was extremely competent and reliable. The 912, on the other hand, (all 2400 lbs of it) never sees the track

Well, to me it looks like the 3D company that did the animation for that spot probably just had a turbo model and added the hoop. Probably not super car heads they didn't even realize Porsche heads would study every frame and call out that air intake. I can't image what other reason there would be that turbo rear fender. Just a thought from a 3D animation company owner.

I was so excited about the PTS targa 4S I cancelled my PTS C4S cab ordered in 2013; now the weight of the glass concerned me enough I moved on to a PTS TT cab for 2015....darn this blog has been expensive for me! Still waiting sadly for factory allocation....all PTS are delayed it seems. No turbo targa I think for 2+ years it seems and with PTS all backed up, it could be 3 years later....I started my custom build plans in 2012.
