In car Video and data logger

I am planning to place a video and data logger in my 2012 Carerra S mainly for street and DE events. I've pretty much settled on a GoPro 3 for the camera but I need some advice on where to mount it. I would like the mount to be permanent with the power cord hidden. I would like the data to be compatible with a Mac. I'm not wild about installing windows on my Macs. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Window isn't that bad. Use Parallels. It's quite easy to install, allowing you to run it on your Mac.

As for the camera. I have mine mounted up on the windscreen next to the rear view. I'm sure an installer could get a wire running to it from under the headliner. Unless you get a rollbar installed, I think that's the best place for it interiorly. Did I just make up a word?

Is the suction cup strong enough for DE events.

I used the permanent sticky mount. Much smaller and you can remove with a little effort and a razor blade if necessary. I know PCA doesn't abide by external mounts.

Here's my setup. Maybe a bit overkill but cheaper than actual datalog system:

-Data (+occasionally video): Harry lap timer on my iPhone + Emprun GPS (higher frequency, much improved accuracy). I am using a RAM iPhone holder for the windshield. Best one I found so far (robust, no vibrations)

-GoPro inside the car: attached to my roll bar. Another option is to use a suction cup and attach it to the backlite

-GoPro outside the car: I am using a tow hook mount sold by Rennline. I synchronize both GoPro's using the iPhone App.

-Software: I do initial video editing in iMovie. After that I can do further editing and add data recorded by Harry's using RaceRender (available for Mac)
RaceRender

-Sound: I just purchased this external microphone that should reduce wind noise but I have no tested it yet...

Thanks!! I think I'll try your iPhone setup first.
