991 stainless brake lines?

Tried searching here and on rennlist, as well as a general google search for suppliers of stainless steel brake lines for the 991 Carrera S, but no luck. Suncoast only has them listed for the 997 and older models, and when I ordered my upgraded rotors from GiroDisc, they said that they don't have stainless lines, either.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Vividracing claims that their Agency Power SS lines fit the 99+ Porsche 986, 987, 996, 997, and 991 models with factory or PCCB brakes. If this is correct, it should be the same with other vendors. Best thing to do is to pick up the phone and call the tuning companies (you should find most of the as forums sponsors).

FVD makes them. I bought a set from Suncoast a year ago. Now I don't see it on their website anymore. But may be worth a call.

I also still have mine but don't use them anymore (Brembo big brake kit came with a set of stainless hoses)....

Here is a link to our website for them...

Our lines is that they are very high quality and so they pass TÜV approval for use in Germany / Europe.

IMHO, waste of money. I have tracked the heck out of the stock lines over two seasons so far including hot days and they are great. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Agreed. I have a set in my garage (the FVD ones) that I never installed. Brand new if you want to buy them from me.

Thanks--FVD just responded above.

Good to know. By the way, how do you get from NYC to area tracks (LRP, NJMP, WGI, Pocono) and run on R888s? Do you change over at home and hope for no rain, or do you trailer the car?

Thanks for the info.

I drive to the track and back on on them, including the Glen a few times in monsoons. They are fine in the rain unless the tread is very low.

Also, the wear of driving them on the street is immaterial compared to the track. The seller (board sponsor) has told me that street only they would last about 6k miles, so about half a street tire -- not a factor when you are running them hard at the track. Also here's a tip -- you can flip them left/right to gain more even wear (though you will lose wet traction in that way so save that for sunny track days).

I did like the feel with the stainless lines better.
But in the end, I found the brakes quite inadequate ... Wore down pads in 2 track days and also warped the front rotors. The 15 inch brembos with pagid rs29 pads make a huge difference.

This has been my experience too (and from a few others). Killed pads, warped rotors, went for Brembo 15"BBK, killed pads, went for RS29, happy now. But it all depends how aggressive you are and to what track you go to.

I have heard of 6speeders who have been doing fine with upgraded pads, rotor, brake fluid, SS lines but I have no personal experience. I guess that sometimes you start seeing the benefit of SS lines when you are already running very hot, but at that point, other parts may already be the limiting factor.
Also, how far yo go with brakes will depend on the tires you run.

When it comes to brakes, I love to know that I have them in good shape and plenty of braking power all the time.

That's what I have, rotors, pads, and fluid. I've never felt any brake fade on the two very demanding tracks in the area, Laguna Seca and Thunderhill.

If you dont mind sharing;

Is that with RS29 pads?

Did the factory rotors have issues to warrant changing?

RS29 and Girodisc rotors. The factory pads glazed and the rotors warped slightly ad had weird deep grooves. I probably could have tried one more time with the factory rotors, but they were already getting cracks almost to the edge with just a few track days. Couldn't be happier with the current setup. No issues at all on a few very very hot days. In total, I have about 10 track days on this setup.

Are you running stock tires or r-compound? Do you have PSM off all the time? Just trying to understand the circumstances in which the 'improved stock' setup works.

Thanks!
