Pdcc and sport suspension

Hi guys

Trying to decide on pdcc and the need for sport suspension. Can anyone comment on this and if they have driven Carreras with and without these options. Does the lack of sport suspension look too high? Is it similar to the turbo look or higher?

Thanks.

Here's something I posted on another thread if it helps. There have been many threads on this topic, so a forum search will be your friend....

My first 991 was with standard PASM: just fine, a little too compliant and sitting too high for my taste.

I then installed SpeedArt springs: a bit firmer and better -lower- looks, a bit more effective in the turns.

On my second 991, I have PDCC+SPASM. Cosmetically, the car sits somewhere between the PASM & the PASM + aftermarket springs. On the road, the ride is noticeably the firmest of the three in any mode (normal, sport, sport+), but it turns in better (more stable and planted, less roll) and offers better performances.

I would still go for PDCC+SPASM if had to do it again.

Here's mine PDCC+SPASM...very compliant with no/minimal body roll around the corners. Also compliant over bumps etc. Highly recommended!

I had the opportunety to try both before I froze the options.

That is SPASM with and SPASM without PDCC.

My driving is very limited on tracks and mostly great driving roads (mountain passes and anything that goes as "nice").

Both are similar but the PDCC seems a little less harsh on rough roads. I cannot detect any real noticable difference between the two during fast cornering - they seem to turn equally flat.

The non-PDCC feels nice in the "sports car" sense and the steering seems also a bit more lively, not that that matters with this car (you feel what the car is doing though your spine).

I guess they should be quite similar on the track - the PDCC probably has a very small edge but that needs to be confirmed by somebody that realy can compare the two under equal conditions on a track.

I would be happy with either choice but elected to go for the non-PDCC as this is lighter and less can go wrong and instead invested the savings into other options that give more return (two tone leather etc).

If I where to choose a PASM (i.e. not the SPASM) however, I would likely take the PDCC - it makes more sense with that option.

When the 991S was introduced, the factory literature described something like a 13 second gain in time around the Nurburgring over the 997 S. They attributed about half the gain to Sport PASM (and other suspension improvements) and half to PDCC.

(My car has Sport PASM and no PDCC and so I am not taking it to the Nurburgring, where I would surely be shown up by Serge).

I have PDCC and no SPASM. I haven't driven other 991's but I have driven a number of other cars on the track (and tracked my 991 extensively). The PDCC is huge on the track when you are making quick left/right transitions (e.g., any chicane-like turn or anytime you track out and have to get to the next turn in point quickly). The effect of the PDCC in those situations is very apparent because there's no way a moderately comfortable suspension, much less a very comfy one (by sports car standards) should be able to pull that off.
