I agree. A black cable would be better. The problem is actually finding one that works. Apple doesn't make one, and most all of the knock-off don't actually work. Maybe I can find some sort of dye. I think paint would flake off the plyable cable.

 

I work with artists paint and liquitex markers will not flake off. The acrylic base is the strongest and most flexible around. It only costs a couple of dollars.
I will try that here at home right away and get back to you with results.

 

Well. Now I have tried it and works beautifuly. No flakes and stays on the cable. Even on the smooth plastic.
There are a couple of grey tones as well as the black one. Try it.

I have never had a personalized license plate before, but I decided to get one this time. I'll have it in 60-90 days. I wanted something that only car people, specifically Porsche people, would understand in hopes that it reduces the odds of getting keyed.

 

A Canon 50mm F 1.2 is a perfect lens for low light. Doesn't get any faster. Just use manual focus and a steady hand. Keep the 50 and get a prime wide angle...better than having a zoom...

Oh, I forgot to tell you that the liquitex marker also comes with a small tip. Maybe the broad one will be to big for details. But try it out. Great pen!

 

Bought a black Griffin cable from Best Buy. Quality as good as OEM. Has worked find for months, plugged and unplugged several times a day. $19.

 

I'll check it out. I've just tried using other cables in my Audi, and they either don't work or have quit working.

As others have mentioned it takes about a minute to install. I really like the way it looks. Makes the hood look very finished. Now I just need the cargo protector for the floor. I should have just ordered both at the same time.

I have the same color combo as you, with the platinum silk gloss wheels. Up until now I just washed them with some Meguiars Gold Car Wash soap. I didn't have the guts to use the Meguiars "Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner" and the "Brake Dust Barrier" I bought. I'm afraid they will hurt the matte finish as there is no sort of clear coat on them ?!

 

I've read that Meguiars Brake Dust Barrier will leave a nasty residue on the wheels, so I would definitley not want to use it on the Satin Wheels.

You should really look into put Opti-Coat 2.0 on the wheels. I am really happy with the results. Then you can use whatever wheel cleaner you want. Here is what I did.

I took the wheels off the car. I sprayed on the Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner (you could use whatever wheel cleaner you prefer). I let it sit for a few minutes and cleaned with various brushes. Next, I sprayed the tires with Stoner's Terminator and followed with Adam's All-Purpose Cleaner. Then, I decontaminated the wheels with Auto Finesse Iron Out. Just spray it on and let sit a few minutes. Some people prefer to dry the wheels and then decon. I just spray it on wet wheels and rub it around like soap. Next I used a 3" Nanoscrub with their Glide lubricant to get any lasting contaminents off the wheels. You can be aggresive here to get them really clean. I blew off the water with my leaf blower. I did a final cleaning to the tires with Griot's rubber prep, cut all of the little pieces of rubber that stick out from the tires with a razor blade, and dressed tires with Adam's Super VRT. The final step before Opti-Coat is to wipe down with Isoprophyl Alcohol diluted to about 30%IPA/70%Distilled water. Make sure they are nice and dry. Now wipe on the Opti-Coat. They key to Opti-Coat is to make sure it's applied evenly. I put about 4 drops on a waxing pad, spread it around, and repeat. Now, I'll probably never need to do any of this again. Just use the Sonax or wheel cleaner, and watch the water bead.
