Very nice work!

Can you post any blow-by-blow steps you went through? I have CF vinyl, am inspired to do the same on my C4.

thanks!

Sure....I don't have any pics for aDIY, but I started with a piece of the trim cut about 1/2" wider thanthe cover on all sides. Wash the covers first with dish soap or wipe with alcohol, then dry or allow to dry. then I just start from the bottom on the cover and stick on the vinyl up to the bump for the finger pull area. I then took a knife and made a U shaped cut in the vinyl, and tucked the cut flap under the area your finger would pull at if you were removing the cover from the car. After that, the hardest part is getting the finger pull bump covered. Use a blow dryer set on hot to heat the vinyl, and I used a driver license edge to press the vinyl down onto the edges of finger pull the bump as it cools. This area is where I got the most bubbles in the vinyl, but you can just pull it out from a corner and resmooth multiple times. Once the finger pull protrusion is covered and in place, smooth out the vinyl on the rest of the upper part of the cover. I then take some scissors and cut the vinyl about a 1/4" from the plastic edge of the cover all the way around. Then you just press in the vinyl edge all the way around. You can get creases in the corners, but if you heat it up in the corners, then press hard, you can flatten out the creases. Basically hold it down until it cools.

The small flap from the U cut at the finger pull can be trimmed off flush with the back of the cover on the back side.

That's about it. Just takes some time, but it is pretty easy.

Plastidip

Not even 3 months into ownership of my 2014 c2 and already have scuffs on my fuse covers on the passenger side (wife pointy manolos, lol).
Plastidiped them to hold off the damage, but after seeing your CFs, I'm inspired to do the same.
How thick is the vinyl and does it scratch through the material easily?

Thanks!

It is susceptible to tears, as it is thin, but you can stretch the heck out of it and it doesn't rip or anything.

The process is easy, so if it does tear up from your wife's pointy shoes, just redo it every few months. A 12" x 60" piece off ebay is like $10 shipped or less, so for cheap you'd have enough film to do like 20 covers.

The film I have is actually quote thick...I want to say it's at least 5 mils. And yes....what is it about the wives and they manner in which they dirty up the passenger footwell??? We can take a short trip to the grocery store and bank and her floor mat is covered with leaves, dirt, etc...LOL. As far as scuffs, the CF fuse panel is the nicest part of the passenger footwell after she's been in it a few times.

Honestly, I don't know how thick my CF film is, but the panel cover can easily be redone if it is ever needed.

Here is a pic of the fuel door. I think it came out great! was really tired of people at the stations fingerprinting up the door. I hate not being able to pump my own gas here in NJ!

Nice job! How did you round out the curves so nicely? The vinyl always bunches up - and you had nothing but curves!

the trick with the wrap is to stick it to the surface and gently heat the vinyl and stretch it around the curve. then trim in up on the inside. You can do it!!

Looks great! how long have you had it on? I tried some 3M architectural CF vinyl (I think) on a previous car and it got faded and worn out very quickly. Is there a newer material around that is more durable?

I think a neat idea would be to wrap the black portions of the engine lid in cf. and by that I mean the black parts that you can see from the outside when the lid is closed.
