I say go with the PGTS!!! That is what I drive and I live in DC the 2nd worst traffic than LA in the US and I still have tons of fun in the car. Plus the space is there when you need it and you won't notice that its big when you are alone. It's like a spaceship coupe.

I considered very very briefly about trading in my C4S for a PGTS. Growing family made me consider it.
I test drove one, it felt huge, and very disconnected actually. I was surprised how isolated I felt as a driver and had zero idea what the front wheels were doing, there is very little feedback(same reason I don't like the new M5, but its insanely quick in a straight line). The interior was really nice though, the cabin layout it great.

For me, it was too big and I had an issue with spending over $130K for it. Personally would rather wait for the new M3 and save $50 000, it will be more engaging to drive and a better size.

Well did the the test drive.. got a nicely loaded C4S to take out. PDK was super fast, and the car was much more comfortable then my R8GT. I could definitely see myself driving it everyday. Its a really nice package well put together. I also got to test a PGTS which was also really nice - felt a lot more connected and engaging then my M5. I know it would be a great DD but I want to see if I can get away with the C4S. My only concern with the coupe would be the challenges of getting a car seat in there and putting my son in and out while still having room for the wife to sit upfront. Both cars came up to about the same price but the only thing that was annoying was the need for power steering plus in the PGTS if you wanted the entry drive.

All in all think I think the C4S combination of sport, luxury, and usability are untouched - not to mention the huge fun I think the car will be in the winter months! Now the big decision is to go for a 2015 or wait for the 2016 refresh. This would mean holding onto to the M for another year - not a bad predicament but always tough to be patient.

** The sales rep asked to drive my R8GT and called me later in the evening - he wants me to come back again so he can drive it more, it was on his mind all day LOL. He was amazed at how different it felt compared to a standard R8; exactly the reason I bit the big bullet to buy it! Told him each drive will cost him a few points off the new order!

When I have my son in the back, he is three and in a Britax seat, not a booster, there is not any room realistically to fit a front passenger. The passenger seat is pushed all the way forward, as is the seat back.

I hated the extra assisted steering in the PGTS, to the point it ruins the entire driving experience for me. Strange how they group those options together.

if you're going to keep R8GT and get rid of M5, it actually makes more sense to get PGTS...

Funny, I had the same experience at a Porsche dealer - giving rides to the salesmen who seemed blown away by the performance, the new dual clutch trans. and sound of the V10 Plus engine.

New M3 is a great alternative as well IMO.

Very well said. I couldn't even wait until 2015, so I took a 2014 to enjoy spring and summer driving. And the car seat in the C4S won't be a problem. My wife rode comfortably in shotgun with our 3-year-old in the backseat behind her. Enjoy.
