You could accomplish the same with the button/paddle, but thats 5 clicks vs 1 press of the throttle. I have used this to ready the car for a quick pass or before coming out of a turn. It gets the car to a state of max acceleration/torque and stays there. I guess its similar to what sports plus would do, but this works in normal or sport.

This feature is a carryover from Tiptronic. I used it on my 04 Cayenne Turbo to prepare for passes on two-lane mountain roads. The advantage is letting the transmission understand road speed and choose the right gear to put you in the fat part of the torque band without having to do it manually nor potentially having that half-second wait while the transmission downshifts. I haven't tried it with PDK (didn't dawn on me until I saw this thread,) but I don't remember it being overly jerky with the Tip.

FrstPorsche is infamous around these parts
I normally drive in sport+ manual mode but tried this yesterday for kicks and it worked as described. Give the throttle a quick punch and release and pdk downshifts two gears immediately. I can see how this is useful especially if you always drive in full auto mode.

Does PDK have any other hidden features we could start another thread?

It is not jerky when I do it, since it rev matches it is rather smooth, of course when you engage and accelerate you feel the full torque which could jerk you into the back of the seat.

Do you know about mini launch control, it is discussed in this thread.

I noticed this recently: In auto mode from a standstill, you can downshift the paddle and it will light up manual mode. It will stay in 1st until a redline shift occurs into 2nd and then hold there for a while. Appears to work in normal or sports auto modes.
