Then again, at the premium price we pay for our cars maybe we should receive somewhat nicer loaners? At BMW you only ever receive another BMW as a loaner.

But do remember it is only temporary and it should make you appreciate what you have that much more. There are those less fortunate that will be behind the wheel of a Toyota all their life.
I dropped my now sold 12' TTS there several times for service. The nicest car they ever provided me (from Hertz) was a Nissan Sentra. As long as it got me home I didn't care.

A loaner when taking car in for warranty service? My P dealer was the worst experience I have ever had. I just bought my 991 in February from an out of state dealer. I took my car in for service. When I asked about a loaner I just got a response from the service advisor that he said we assumed you have a second car (which I do, but an inconvenience to get a ride to go home and a ride to come back to the dealer. Many people do here have second cars in the Detroit Michigan winter seasons but so what). So is it normal that Porsche dealers are supposed to have a loaner if the car is there more than a day?

Which dealer?

I went to Fred Lavery and they gave me an A4 and I did not even pre-book one. It was an oil change that they say should take 2 hours but ended up being longer. Good that they gave me a loaner and I did not sit there and wait.

Suburban Porsche in Farmington Hills. I will definitely try Lavery for my next service need especially if they offer a loaner. It's just not as convenient for me. I am only hoping I get a call or survey regarding my service experience. I already had to call the general manager of the dealership to complain. Each and every call I make to the service dept. goes straight into voice mail and there isn't a live person to speak to. It took 2 days just to make a service appointment and had my car sit there 3 days. It was in for a rattle they didn't fix the first time and finally got it on second visit after I drove with the service tech. Horrendous experience with a Porsche dealership.

If I have to nitpick, the only thing is the garage is connected to their Audi dealer. They serviced Porsche, Audi, and Range Rover all at the same garage.

I know, first world problem.

If there is an issue under warranty, Porsche will pay for a loaner car for as long as it takes them to diagnose and fix the issue. When it comes to a service, the dealer is NOT required to offer a loaner for free (per Porsche). Some do, many don't.

Beverly Hills Porsche doesn't...but they do have an Enterprise R A C desk right in their service area...I have always made sure that I find some kind of warranty issue before I take it in for servicing, that way they have to give me a loaner.

careful with enterprise. I was once happy to get a complimentary loaner through a dealer from enterprise.

When I returned it they marked up a piece of paper saying it was their "inspection" process upon check-in and subsequently demanded $300.00 for a door ding.

No pre delivery inspection was done in my presence so I called bs on the claim. They threatened to sue and turned me over to collections.

Enterprise is a bunch of crooks in my experience and opinion. Their management appears to stack the deck against you if you opt out of their insurance at an extra fee.

be warned.

I have never had cancer, but my loaner's have been a Panamera hybrid, Audi S4 and Audi Q5.

Congratulations on beating the odds Dr. C!

I guess that I am lucky to have a pretty high quality dealer. I always get a loaner car, no matter how long mine is there for service. It is usually a Porsche but on occasion it has been an Audi. I have had pretty much everything; a Panamera, Cayenne Diesel, Caymen, A7, Q5 and an A8.
