Targa My2015 Build

Would consider Carbon Fiber interior but I hear mixed longevity issues and I would also consider LEDs but somehow they seem to take away from the "instant classic" look of the Targa. I am open to differing opinions!!

Thanks for any feedback and experience you my have.

Thanks Sizzle.

I noticed you saw one in person (Amelia Island) , did the top go up and down fairly quietly? The dealer had no problem with me buying one sight unseen

Not for me! So I am waiting to see one in person before sealing the deal.

That is going to be stunning. I can't wait to see pictures. The ****pit of the 991 seems to have a lot of glare and with that much of the roof off, and that much glass in the back, I would expect that it will be an issue. I have a red and black interior, but it is mostly red with black inserts only in the doors and seats. I don't know how the two tone is set up in your build, but if the top of the dash, at least, is black, that could cut down the glare. I also switched in a number of carbon fiber trim parts for the metalized bits and that helped. You might want to consider that, or getting trim painted to match your exterior. A good set of sunglasses would be a great investment as well. Just minor ideas. Great build.

Everyone has a different perspective on the best build, but I'd suggest the 18 way adaptive seats. Just superb. On the performance end, I'd ditch the parking stuff since it's both unnecessary and you're not likely to ever need it. SC is a 1or 2 hit wonder. Unless you track, of course. Better choice is the SPASM and PDCC; the car is lowered by 20 mm and you will feel like you are on rails. It is simply impossible to twist the car with those options, unless you have a death wish (hope you don't).

AG: The Black/Garnett has a black dash and the tops of the doors are also black. Both have red stitching to compliment the seats. I like the idea of carbon fiber but is there still wear issues with the Porsche CF? I am not doing the steering wheel but would do trim.

Al: I don't see myself tracking much so my build is 99% comfort and gadgets hence the Burmeister, reverse camera and I think PDK needs SC. I debated the 18 way seats but I don't like the plastic backs and don't want to spend more on putting leather there, ingress and egress issues and the aesthetics don't appeal to me putting the 18 way seats with plastic back in a Targa. Its busy looking enough and the back seats a bit tighter. I know its just a matter of taste.

Thanks!

Your build is very nice! I agree on the 18-way seats and PDCC w/ SPASM. However, I see nothing wrong with the parking sensors. For peace of mind not just for me but for whomever else I let drive my car (maybe I am just generous hah). I can't wait to see pics in the future.

I've ordered one with similar specs. Just love that targa look.
I look forward to seeing yours. Cheers.

FJ, can you share your build with me publicly or if you prefer privately?

Looking for feedback on CF and LEDS as well on a TARGA in particular .

I guess I could research old threads but I have read peeling and cracking with pre991 CF. This maybe a bigger issue with a gum ball machine rear window and drop top?

LEDS don't quite seem to fit the classic design although it does give it a Star Wars Podracer or George Jetson look which is cool :roll eyes:

I can't wait to see one in person!!

Agate 4S.Std wheels. PDK w/ SC. Sport Exhaust. Expresso/Cognac w/ 18 way seats & Premium Plus package. PDLS. PCCB's. Bose. Storage lid w/ model logo.
Smokers pkge, rear net, black gauges. Heated, Multi-function steering wheel, front-rear sensors with camera.
The Sport Chrono is really a toss up for me. I'm considering applying that $ to an extra set of wheels w/ winter tires.
I will also clear bra it at delivery. Car is expected Sept 12.

Great build! I don't have the winter tire issues but I think if it's a daily driver you will need them. The Premium Pk Plus is another way to cut down costs, if you remove it. I have it on my build but not sure it's worth it. I have no issues using a key!!

First off, I think you've done well - you don't need the PDCC nor SPASM. I personally wouldn't bother with SC - it looks neat and fun to play with, but it's a lot of money for not much, IMHO. I also think that PSE is ridiculous, but that puts me in the minority.

OK, that said, my car has full leather, which I think you have as well, and that gives me leather on the sides of the (14-way) seat wrapping part of the back, and then the center piece of the back of the seat appears to be either leather or vinyl that looks just like leather. So you may want to check with your sales person and see, if they know, if that's how your car will come. I'm not sure what the difference is between the 14 and 18 way seats (yes, I know, the difference is "4" ) and if it's worth it.

I've seen the LED lights and I'm sure they work great, but they look kind of silly. I'm happy with my PDLS.
