Dilemmmmaaaa - What do you do when your boss and his boss drives .....
Perceptions are reality. If I show up at my client (assume he's a controller) , who makes 175k a year and is raising a family and sending kids to college, in a 120k car and want to charge 300k for an accounting project, how inclined do you think he's going to be to hire me? Do you think somewhere he might be thinking there's a little too much profit in my proposed fees? These are circumstance to navigate, not insecurities. In the grand scheme of things, are these earth shattering problems? No of course not. Is it something that needs to be managed, like many other aspects of your life? Yes. Is asking for other people's thoughts in a forum specifically geared towards sharing ideas and helping each other appropriate here? Of course it is.
Keeperofthebeasts, whenever I evaluate strategy at work, I typically turn to Sun Ztu. In your situation I believe Sun Ztu would say; "do not display your armies before your enemies, unless your forces are clearly stronger and can easily obtain victory."

The name of the book is The Art of War, by Sun Tzu. It's mentioned a few times in my upcoming novel: Become your Enemy
That is what I need ...perhaps in 5 more years
When I was in school I worked at the yacht club. The old timmers with the most $$ always drove 10-12 year old Fords. They went on and on about a car is just a means to get from point A to point B and for me to not spend the principle blah blah…then they would walk down the dock to their 10 million dollar water toy.

None are wrong. It is just preference.
I liked the mention above about conditions that must be managed. Those who do, become those 'successful' people most here are *****ing about.
