The problem with the Porsche pecieved image...
nah, I don't need the sale from an asshat that bad. He can take his money and walk....good riddance. One thing doing this for 30 years has taught me is that if they give you a hard time before the sale, afterwards they are ten times worse.
Just out of curiosity, what was the fellow driving?
What I find interesting is how folks evaluate others by virtue of what they drive. I was at a PCA event on Sunday. A guy (new to the club) asked me what I drove and then asked me the make of my immediately prior ride. When I told him that my old daily driver was a 2001 Honda Odyssey, he sort of cringed. I smiled and didn't tell him about my other three cars.
"To his detractors, Dr. Emmert, 61, embodies everything wrong with the college sports model that, critics say, rewards executives and coaches on the backs of free labor. Dr. Emmert drives a Porsche, has a $1.67 million annual compensation package and has the use of a private jet."

It goes the other way, too. People think you are "rich" because you drive a Porsche. "No sir. Not in my case. I worked hard, scrimped, and saved, and for a very long time focused my discretional income on getting this Porsche." (If I were rich I would buy a more expensive Porsche.)
Gentlemen and Ladies, few if any of us are rich. We are what my family used to refer to as "comfortable" - we're not rich.
IMHO "rich" - among other things - the least of which is having Turbos, a few other P Cars as well as other vehicles (chauffeured and self drive) at each of your numerous residences which are located throughout the world. All vehicles - including yachts, ocean liners, jets - carefully maintained by your staff so that you may drive them on your private tracks and at your islands.
Again, we're not rich

Personally I would not have said you own the 911 in that situation. I usually drive rental cars to my clients than taking my own car, because even though they pay a lot of money in fees, I would rather they think they view it as they are paying for top talent and intellectual property, than paying for expensive cars. Paying for top talent, may mean the top talent buys the expensive car, but no need to make that linkage direct.
I would buy from you but you're too far.
I have a question though - who covers for you when you're out or on vacation? What's the longest vacation you've taken?
When are you planning on retirement? Curious about people's life plans and successes.

I've tried to get coverage for vacation, but gave up doing that because it was MORE work trying to fix all the mistakes my store sitters made (and more costly, too). Now I just lock the door and put up the 'gone fishing sign' for up to 2 weeks.
Retire? Never. I still have to get a Ferrari 599 before I do that - and its a long ways off right now.
I do 85 % of my business on the internet and have a stronger customer base in both Texas and California than I do in Virginia where my store is located. Most the reason is because I run a Q&A forum on fine furniture that is at www.myfurnitureforum.com. It has a national presence, just like this forum does. And the Texas and Cali dealers absolutely gouge their customers on prices for some reason. I ship 50 state and into Canada, too.

Most people assume they can take advantage of a salesmen, simply because the assume a salesmen will do anything to close a deal. Most of the time this is true... Yet every now and then you get rewarded with a story like this.
Its a rat race out there filled with rats... who cant live with the idea of furthering the business of someone successful.
Props to you for not taking his sh*t.
