That is just not a pretty seen. I don't understand how organized events like this are allowed to happen on public roads?

I heard that the driver of the R8 claimed he got a flat, and the police report attributed that as the cause of the accident. I wonder if that might change now that the video is so wildly viewed. Its one thing to do something stupid and crash your car, but another level when you crash into innocent people just driving down the road.

And agreed that racing on the highway is a bad scene. I love racing and DE's, which are very different, but always on track. The fact that this was an organized event would seem to place some of the liability/responsibility on the organization as well as the misbehaving drivers.

What a bunch of idiots.
Too much money and not enough sense.

If that was their mother, daughter, son or wife in that silver car, would it be half as amusing to them? AND some even had the audacity to leave the scene of an accident.

I hope this video is /was used as evidence against these morons.
Oh Florida...

Just makes me fn angry... So much hard undertaking and overtaking on public highways is always going to risk this kind of incident and the higher the speed the worse the consequences...
In the UK undertaking is still illegal (thankfully) despite several lobby attempts to legalise it. Of course idiots still do it but thankfully the % of idiots on the road is quite small.
Hope the innocent victims came out okay

That was incredible. And no legal recourse.

If he got a flat, why was he signaling to get to the other lane and didn't look

2011 Bull Run. Old story, but perhaps new footage? Even if the video was now reviewed by authorities and it is clear as day that the R8 may not have had a blow-out, not likely anything they can do at this late in the game, nor want to. Also, a good lawyer could still contend that the flat caused an emergency, the driver signaled intention to move to the right to get to the shoulder and avoid losing control, and the black Merc was passing on the right ('undertaking', right?) at excessive speed, disregarding the turn signal and causing the initial impact. Prior to the first hit, I didn't see where the R8 was maneuvering dangerously -- although yes at excessive speed. I mean, except for one right-hand move, he signaled each time! What a ******.

But I do agree that "racing" on public roads is pure stupidity.

I'm not a lawyer -- but I spent last night at a Holiday Inn.

Oh, and in the slow mo's and stuff, didn't look to me like any airbags went-off in that R8 -- don't they have front and side airbags? The driver is lucky wasn't decapitated by the hood exploding in his face....

Last night I was watching the Houston GP and those skilled drivers were destroying the cars right and left. What does that say about some hack street racing.

Very imprecise and unpredictable driving movements. They were really bad drivers. All of them. Pathetic.
