[QUOTE=SanibelSpeed;4144580]My sentiments, exactly! My wife and my son all think I'm crazy and in need of a shrink because I blow so much money on depreciation by not keeping cars long enough but in reality, the only two cars I kept for only a year were my R8 Spyder and my 911, both sports cars.

For me the state sales tax really slows the turn over rate.

Yes, another wonderful aspect of living in CA where we pay sales tax each time we buy a car AND our registration fees are based on a completely silly formula derived from the perceived value of your car. It's a game I like to call: "How Many Times Can We Tax the Same Asset"!

To the OP - I say this... it's your money, it's your life. If you can afford to do so, drive what makes you happy and don't worry for one pico second what anyone (including me) has to say about it.

Good luck, God speed and keep the shiny side up!

I don't go to the track and the around town driving I do is mostly on straight, flat roads in Miami traffic so there's really little use of my 911's potential. I also have limited garage space so I'm planning on selling both the 911 and the Bentley GTC and buy one, all-purpose car. The car that fits the bill is the Mercedes CLS63 AMG S. For straight-line performance - which is about all I have the opportunity to do - there are few cars as fast. It has a more useful rear seat than either the Bentley or the 911 and a good-size trunk. The interior is very nice and the seats are extremely comfortable, even more so than the Bentley. It's not a sports car but as I said, I have no use for a sports car other than to go to car shows and events, and I have two collector cars for that, a '63 Austin-Healey and a '67 Sting Ray. It's also not as ostentatious as the Bentley so it is more of a daily driver than the Bentley.

And, it is a bargain: For around $120K you get 585HP delivered to the ground via a 7-speed speedshift transmission with launch control and 100-millisecond gear changes and AWD so the power moves the car instead of burning the rubber. The best test results so far are 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and 1/4-mile in 11.6 seconds, truly supercar territory. Best of all, it isn't a boy-racer car like the GTR, which would be unseemly for someone my age (not to mention they're butt-ugly) but is a luxury GT. And, it can actually handle should the opportunity present itself.

Finally, I've always liked the looks of the CLS ever since the day it debuted 10 years ago.

So, it's too soon to say farewell, but come this fall I may no longer own a Porsche. I'll always be a Porsche fan and a fan of this forum, regardless.
So i went from a 12 CLS63 with Performance Package 550HP/590TQ to a 2014 911 turbo. its the only car than made me smile like the CLS every time i hit the gas.

I'm waiting for the 2015 orders to be taken. I've made up my mind. The more I read about the car and the more pictures I see of the 2015 model, the more convinced I become.

In Florida, you only pay sales tax on the cash difference between your trade-in and the purchase price. If I trade the Bentley, then I pay no sales tax but if I trade the 911, depending on what they give me and what the car costs, I'll pay 6% on the difference, probably $1,200+/-

Are you saying that the Merc. has a lesser build quailty? They seem solid to me ,just a little more staid .

A comparably equipped Panamera Turbo costs $75K more and is slower and not very pretty.

I've had recent Audis and hated their electronic controls. They are very distracting as they require you to push at least 2 buttons to do one simple thing like change the radio channel or adjust the A/C. Worst. Interface. Ever.

I'm going from a sports car to a GT car so an SUV like the Cayenne is certainly not a consideration.

Several states have the same tax policy. CA requires sales tax (at least 7.50% and often more, depending on where you live) on each and every purchase. Trade ins, etc. make no difference.

A CPO Pana GTS or Turbo would fit the bill nicely.
