A less controversial and polarizing subject (lol I think).... The speddometer
I prefer the analog gauges to digital in the sense of liking the look of the tach and other needles being actual physical hardware and not rendered stuff with whatever goofy "we want our dash to look really cool" effects applied (I don't think the 991 digital in-dash bit does that, fwiw)... But yeah, the analog speedometer is next to useless thanks to its size and having much too small areas representing much too large speed divisions, so while I may be a purist in some ways, but I'll use the only speed display that's readable.
Funny funny funny guys...
Digital for me too... I just posted my non-analogue views on another thread before seeing this thread. Good to see my efforts were wasted lol
+1 on the speed limit display being useful
-1 on the guy in the back seat telling me when I'm going too fast... I couldn't afford him.... $400 per spoken word...

getting rid of the unused analog speedometer ( to add other functionality in its gauge space) has been wished for since the 996 came out nearly 17 model yrs ago .....still waiting
all they did was move the digital speedometer to under the tach instead or its original position under the analog speedo after the first couple yrs

Yeah not guessing they are going to mess with it anytime soon. I suppose eventually it will all be electronics displays and you can bring up whatever you want. Sorta the way the displays work on modern aircraft ****pits.
I think that there are certain measurements that work better with analogue gauges and certain ones that work better with digital. Engine speed/tach should always be analogue, but speed is better considered as a digital readout. I'd actually like to see the digital speed readout larger, in the center of the tach. And, I'm hoping that Audi's HUD makes its way to the next gen 911 so we can see both without looking down from the road at all. I had HUD in three BMWs and found it to be an incredible safety feature as well as a convenient one.
On my first test drive I sat in the drivers seat looked at the speedo trying to memorize the 70mph position. Started driving, mentioned the difficult position and markings on the analog to the sales guy. He mentioned most people use the digital, and so have I ever since. I would not want the analog to go away even though i never use it.Turns out most are looking at the bright clear one. Love the tach, watch that all the time and would not want that in digital form.

I'd love to use the analog display, but:
1. The digital display literally grabs my attention every time. It's useless to have both.
2. The analog display could be a bit bigger or have more useful readouts.
