Is there a part missing in my car - Cover for door arrest.

Was looking at the pic in this this threadhttps://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...all-991-a.html

My car is 2014 C4S. I don't have the plastic cover for the door arrester! is it missing in my car or Porsche stopped putting the cover in 2014?

Thank you

I have a 2014 and this piece was broken (hanging on the door) when I took delivery of the car.

I tried to shut the door and heard it being crushed... So the dealer removed the broken piece and ordered a new one for me.

Yours might have already fallen out?

If you are talking about the plastic cover that surrounds the door restraint hinge mine is being held on by masking tape right now, what the heck! I crushed mine and I am currently waiting for the part.

My dealer told me the solution to the recall was to remove the plastic piece from the door which they did when my fell out.

I just had my car in for the one year service and the dealer had a factory replacement for the part. There were also some other updates (software) that were done at that appointment.

My 2012 still has both of them, but one popped out once and I was surprised how poorly designed it was. Porsche is probably re-designing it and getting a real one in the system.

What function does it serve?

I just had two new re-designed units installed on my 2013 C2 as a factory update when the car went in for an oil and filter. The originals had popped-out on several occasions, but snapped back into place after I figured out why the doors would not close.

I have no idea what purpose they serve, but Porsche must think that there is one, since they went through the effort of a redesign and replacement campaign.

Interesting, do you have a campaign number? I'd like to have it addressed next time I go in.

Any pics of this part? I am curious as to which part of the door this is.

Thanks!

The parts are right and left door arrester covers.

Based on my reading of the Service Invoice:

I think that the recall number is WE079999.

The new part numbers seem to be:

000-043-303-42-1E0
000-043-303-43-1E0
