Imminent farewell 991S.... :-(

Alas, it'll soon be time to wave farewell to my beloved '13 Platinum 991S
It's been by far the best 911 I've owned and I know it's going to be missed.
I've had a magical and trouble free 2 years with it but the time has now come to pass it on to my dealer and then to others who will hopefully enjoy it as much as I have.

To help me cope with the sadness of the S loss, my '15 991 GT3 order was confirmed and goes into production in September for Oct/Nov delivery! Hooray!

Jul23 - Updated/Latest Configuration
After much thought I realised that I will not be happy with Rhodium as It's just too "silver" and cold (no disrespect to those that like it, it's just me). I have gone for the tried and tested GT Silver which has a darker hue and is IMO a stunning colour. I'm not on the fence about the Front Axle Lift.

Haku, it is a long time to Oct/Nov to be without a PCAR. Really looking forward to seeing your new GT3 on the mountain roads of NC.

Sounds like an awesome build on the GT3! For a minute there I was almost feeling bad for you.....! Can't wait to see pics!

One question about your build -- forgive me for the dumb question, but I don't ever recall seeing this before:

"Extended Range Fuel Tank - 082"

I am assuming this is just a larger gas tank? Do you lose anything, like the frunk space?

Thanks!

W, quite true it's a bit of a wait but chances are that The car will come in a month early, I have some travelling coming up, and I always like the process of anticipation. So it makes sense to send the S along.

Two things made me choose it... Fuel capacity increases to 23.7 gallons and.... wait for it.... it's a free option! But you do ask a good question whether space is compromised? I don't know and didn't think of it....I'll check and get back to you. Hmmmmm.

Haku,
Congrats on your order - I'm sure it will be a completely different driving experience and at least you have the roads in your neck of the woods (literally) to enjoy the car.

When it arrives we will obviously expect an objective report comparing the two cars, along with your high quality pictures.

After all, posting your findings here will be so much more entertaining than the GT3 forum, given their inability to incessantly argue the benefits of PDK vs Manual, culminating in drivel the likes of which can drive a man to insanity.

My sincere congrats again.

Nice build. You should have negotiated a Boxster or Macan until the GT3 arrives. That's a long time to be P car less

Haku, off to the better 911. Congratulations. Did you lease your S so you need to return it? Why return earlier than getting your GT3? Seems like the travel would keep you busy until you get your "kink free" '15 GT3. Can't way to see it!

Hello Fester. No I didn't lease it...bought it. The thing is I'm going to be up in MA for a month then most likely in Europe for a few weeks. So pretty much away for a couple of months anyway. It makes sense selling the car now rather than it sitting in the garage unused.
