Can the 991S brake master cylinder be upgraded?

I am looking to get a more solid feel from the brake pedal on my 991S. The car stops well enough but the relatively soft feeling pedal lacks a feeling of confidence. I love the solid feel of the Big Reds in my 993 4S and want the same solid feel in my new Carrera.

Backstory: On my former '07 Cayman S I replaced the master cylinder with one from a 997 GT3. The brake pedal feel was absolutely transformed! In the world of 987 Caymans it is a popular swap and a wholesale improvement.

I am wondering if anyone knows if a similar swap can be made with a 991S. Perhaps with a GT3 or a Turbo assuming those are a larger bore than the 991S?

I am surprised that changing the master would change the feel. I too am not a big fan of the feel. While the car stops well, the feel is a little mushy for me.

I upgraded to SS lines, Gircodisc slotted rotors and Pagid yellow pads. It is a significant improvement.

I would take it in as something doesn't sound right.
After my most recent flush, my pedal is rock hard. Almost too hard.
Have you considered starting with something less drastic such as the lines.

Is the GT3 cylinder that much larger than the S?

Nothing is wrong, but the feel doesn't match other cars I prefer. I've driven several 991's and they are much the same to me.

I could do the SS lines, but past experience tells me they won't make the difference I am looking for. At least they didn't in my Cayman.

I don't know the specs of the 991, 991S or GT3 cylinders and need to find out. I'm open to any ideas.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I find the break a bit too soft, too, and would appreciate some tips on what could be done to make it "harder". Brake performance is OK, though.

I also found the pedal soft. It was not that there was a performance issue. It just was not confidence inspiring.

I added SS lines and have changed the rotors to the Girodisc with Pagid yellow pads. I also give the brake two quick taps with my left foot just before I go into a very hard brake zone.

I have been at Road America twice since making these changes. A significant improvement.
