Gearbox failure? PDK

My 2012 991S PDK has 13xxx relatively trouble free miles on the clock. The car has never been tracked, launched or abused. While driving home in normal auto mode a "gearbox failure" message appeared. The car only up and down shifted even number gears. 2-4-6 for up shifts and downshifts 6-4-2. I shut off the car and restarted it and all was well. Anyone else experience this? I live 100 miles from a dealer.

Right up front I'll have to say I got nothing for you.... sorry.

That certainly does not sound good. I have to think that the fact that you received an error message, and only even numbered gears still functioned, that this is a controller or software issue.

Dealer should be able to identify the error code quickly -- if not the root cause.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Hopefully the warranty is still in effect! From the year, it should be.

I think it's just an ECU re-flashing issue that there is a recall out for...

Kona,
I hope you are correct. I've driven the car twice since the "event" and no problems whatsoever!
I did call a service advisor at Porsche. She was less than insightful and far from helpful.
If it happens again I will have it towed to another dealership and hope it's in the hands of someone knowledgeable. Hopefully it's a ECU re flash as you have suggested.
