Guys- Can anyone advise on removing the rear deck-lid slats? Specifically, there are a couple of small connecting tabs on the underside of the lid when raised that I am not familiar with how to remove - without snapping off entirely. They look like a tool that compresses the 4 "prongs" should be used, but I experimented with compressing then and pushing up, and didn't seem to budge (yes, I removed the 4 screws along the front edge first...).
Here's a picture -
And one from direcly beneath...
There are two of these buggers that are visibly keeping the "slats" attached. They are a hard plastic, which is why I am concerned with snapping-off. Looks like if compressed you should be able to push the thing up and pop-off the slat piece.
Anyone help me out? About to start another project, getting my plan together, and this is the only hold-up at this point.
For future reference, I'll post the steps to remove the deck lid vent "slats", as well as the third brake light. With pics of course! I did find the instructions on PIWIS, but they only confirmed I was doing it right. What PIWIS didn't tell me is how hard to push up on those pins (previous pics)! So hopefully others will benefit from my technique in the future....
No big mystery here, but until I finish, I won't be telling anyone about what I'm doing --- just in case I f-up royally!
The new Turbo Aerokit for the 991TT has the rear vents painted black if you specify the "black" kit - same price as the body color one.
$6950 factory option....
Now that I know just how easy it is to remove and replace the vents (I'm talking 5 minutes here for a complete novice...), I could take it to a high-end body shop and get finish and paint for like $500! For >6k they must be made of CF or something? Crazy. But maybe they are just more special in some way...

More to the 991 Turbo's Aerokit option than just the black painted vents...check the Porsche config site for the 991 Turbo
Jawells1, sorryI'll stop now and wait for your update! Ha ha.
I actually wasn't going to do this -- sorry to disappoint! BUT, now that I know how to get the grill cover off in a few minutes, I may be painting it very soon! But certainly won't look like the grill on the 50th, TT Aero, or GTS other than being black! The "slats" on those cars look to be a lot thinner than the three big ones on my C4S.
Can you get the GTS badging too? Suncoast probably has it for $500 ? It's a cheap 30HP
If only it were that easy! For some reason the black grill is just really speaking to me. The chrome accents on the 50th ann version don't do it for me - but the all-black just stood out. I suppose I could get the 50th grill and plasti-dip it!
It'll more closely match my 1986 911 - the deck grill is all black on a grey engine lid and I think it looks pretty boss.
