Cool Parking sensors going off randomly?

My front parking sensors sometimes go off when i am stationary with the next vehicle several meters ahead. Probably only once a month or so. Dealer took a look but couldn't change the sensor under warranty since it isn't giving a fault code. Once or twice i even got the message 'front parkassist currently out of order'' like in the pic. Anyone else had similar issues. I live in europe where front license plates are mandatory . Dealer said number plate edge may be setting the sensor off sometimes. Sound like b/s to me. Any ideas?

My fronts were accidentally disconnected for a while, but interestingly, I didn't get your specific message.. It could be an intermittent connection, but my guess the ecu that connects to the parking sensors may have an issue... Each sensor has its own connection to the ecu.. So it would be interesting to know if it was always the same sensor... ? If so possibly a bad sensor or interconnect..

The license plate sounds bogus.. If that was the case it would be a widely reported problem...

That said I do notice at times when I start up I'll get an indication when I'm parked a few feet from something as well.. Maybe a self calibration thing as well..

I had the exact same issue. My dealer kept the car in the shop for 2 weeks and replaced the entire PCM unit only to later realize that it didn't remedy it. It turned out that Porsche has a factory advisory on the issue. The system is highly sensitive to radio interference. Porsche told the dealers there is no remedy due to this.

It is really just an occasional nuisance. Don't worry your system is working up to specs.

Thanks for the replies. It does always appear to be one of the two front central sensors that cause this issue. For now it is doesnt happen so often so i guess i'll see how it goes.
