MFD - Questions

Hey guys,

So now that my 991 order is complete, I can't stop thinking about the car.

I'm curious what screens on the MFD do you use the most?
How do you have your vehicle screen set up? IE the bits of info displayed.
Do you find that you use or mostly use or ignore the MFD?

Thanks

Jeff

Most important is tire pressures for me - 2nd, vehicle stats - oil & water temps. voltage etc.

Can you view the audio settings (ie. current track) in the MFD as well? Just wondering... don't have a 991 (yet!) but hopefully soon.

The Porsche Good to Know app for the iphone/ipad describes all functions in detail. May be hard to follow though if you're not sitting in the car while reading.

Yes, you can. There is a page that shows the current track, name, etc., and allows you to read through tracks/stations and skip to different ones right from the menu/stalk.

I tend to leave it on the vehicle stats page most of the time.

I agree with Hothonda but you get both-you just lever up to switch. My base page is set up with oil & water temps and voltage. Your GPS map will automatically take it's place at key spots along the route if you have a destination set.

The detailed, zoomed in portion of the map with directions.

THe reality is you will need to play with it. You have several pages you can scroll through and can turn some of them off. I turn of the ones I'm not interested and then tend to flip through them quickly as I need them..

The pages I have enabled are...

Car functions (customizable to what you like. I put Oil temp, Water temp, heading on)
Phone
Audio
G-Forces

I don't have the map on there, not because I don't like it, but because I really don't find a need for the GPS all that much since I tend to drive near home.. When I do take a trip and am using the GPS I turn this on because it is really handy..

The G-Forces are just there for fun.

I have it set just to come up when turns are close. That said, scatkins is right about personal preference. I find myself using Waze on my Note 3 most of the time.

Mostly, the MFD is a useless distraction.
