New Information on upcoming 991 Facelift
We'll see what the official word is.
If Porsche only bumps 15 hp that will show me without a doubt that they just don't get it and have no interest in keeping up with the competition. After 8 different 911s over 20 years I will say goodbye . I don't want to hear the bs about Porsche is a track car and not about power. If that were so GT2s would not have 600hp. The technology is there. Porsche just doesn't want to upset the current owners. Heaven forbid a new generation base 911 gave more power than a 997s. I will go buy something else that offers more power for the money. AMG GT anyone? ZO6?
In the big scope of things, how could they possibly hold prices by offering more than 15HP?
I'm sure they could add 100 HP, but you think they'd want to risk raising prices by 20K or more? They'd be losing more sales by raising prices that much versus not offering more than 15 HP. They're not going to give 100 HP away to only hold prices close to what they are now.
The 911 will keep selling fine with 15HP. Their only challenge is keeping the younger generation interested in the car. I think the average age of a 911 buyer is in the mid 50's.
By doing a huge HP jump it would throw so many things out of whack in the hierarchy of the whole model line, not to mention the current models.
I just don't see it happening. Porsche is pretty predictable.

Do you really think it costs 20k to add power? Do you think a 2.9 turbo engine costs less than a 3.4 turbo? It's just a larger bore. Porsche can do as they choose just as I can with my money. I gave them the benefit of the doubt with my 991 and have never loved the car. In fact can't wait to be rid of it . Even a lowly base 55k corvette will run circles around a base 911. This simply should not be.
I'm entirely satisfied with my 400hp. I've never been to the track, and I enjoy flooring the car for more than a second before I reach felony speeds on the streets.
Porsche has never been about crazy hp numbers. Yet time and time again they remain more fun to drive and often faster around a track than higher hp cars. Anyone who thinks porsche is about to compete with hp numbers against other cars for the same price, you're in for a let down.

This subject has been beat to death.

Everyone bought their current Porsche with its current advertised HP. I don't know what all the excitement is about not having enough HP now??
If the 911 didn't have enough HP when you bought it, there were plenty of other options out there. Why didn't you buy a higher HP car then? What was wrong with the Vette then that makes it so desirable now?

This latest report seems much more reasonable/realistic... and frankly makes me happy that I've ordered a 991 GTS.
I guess the real question is what will the torque figure look like... any guesses? Maybe 50-75 lb-ft additional to get it close to 375-400 total?

The new vette is vastly improved , especially the interior. It was not available in 2012 nor was the M4. From almost the moment I drove off the lot I felt the 991 was a mistake. I didn't sell right away because I didn't want to take a huge loss. I got a tinge of hope when I read about 400bp base Carreras with turbo but alas it's not to be. A Amg gt or jag f type is a more likely option. Both will stomp my 991
Nope. Not me.
+1. If my memory serves, the last two mid-cycle refreshes got 25 - 30 HP bumps in power. So 15 HP may not be far off.

Likewise. I decided to floor it in 3rd gear today up a long onramp. I hit 150km/h before it was even time to merge. Had to hit the brakes to merge. I have a C2. These cars are definitely fast enough.
