Need tint to be darker

Hi Guys,

I did 35% on my side window and back. After about six months, would really like it to be darker - what is the best way? New tint on top of the existing one or pay to have remove and redone?

What about tinting the windshield to decrease light into the interior so things will look darker - kinda want to but afraid of getting pull over.

Thanks

Remove and reapply. Can't imagine layering it is correct.

hi,
I recommend removing the old one and installing a darker one. Double layers of the tint make the window thicker and that with time leads to air leaks in the window seal =) It happened in my old 997.2

As mentioned above, remove and reapply. How muck darker are you going to go? As for the windshield, you could probably get away with the lightest your installer goes, but wouldn't advise anything really past that. Post a few pictures after.

If you apply a second layer on top, you will increase the interior reflections, you need to have it redone. Trust me, been there.
I redone my 35% with 8% and I hate it, at night I cant see anything through my front windows, getting back to 35%.

Interesting. I had 20% ceramic removed and 10% carbon installed on the back (and sides in the back) with no issues. Guess the reflection problems could be associated with the type of tint.

Trust me you have issues, you just aren't aware of them yet.

For window tint, it is not a good idea to layer the films as they will eventually bubble 12-24 mos later. Window film's adhesive is designed specifically for glass; hence, the bubbling - however, most window tinters do not know this.

As others have recommended, it is better to just have the old tint removed and reapplied with a darker shade.
