Sent you a message. There are so many of these cars available. 40k miles on a 2012 is too high you can find better.

I agree. That is too many miles for that price. Sure the car can easily handle that kind of miles but you should be looking at cars with 10 to 15 k miles or less if you are looking at a 2012.

48,000 miles!! Yikes. We want to find him a nice under 10K mileage car.

If you read above, that was the problem with the other high mileage car.

Find one with 5,000 miles or less and it was a summer car.

You're looking at a 40K plus mileage car that has been beat down. 22K in 8 months?? You've got bigger concerns there than worrying about rust.
This is not true...drive a Porsche through a Michigan winter and it'll look like a 1970 Gremlin come Spring.

Thanks all! I have found several options for 2012 and 2013 with low miles based on some of your help. Some of these cars are CPO, and some aren't (especially the 2013s with low miles).

What is your take on CPO? Would it be worth it to pay a little more (around 2K) for a CPO car? Or do most people roll the dice and go non CPO on a recent 991?

It depends how long you plan to keep the car. If you are like me, I trade out every 1-2 years so it wouldn't be worth it depending on cost. If you keep it more than 2 years I would say spending a couple thousand more would be worth it + it transfers when you sell so you get some additional value when you sell.

CPO is never a bad idea. It can also be passed into the next owner.

As long as you're buying from a Porsche dealer, I'd negotiate one if they're not including it. It's an extra expense for them seeing they have to pay Porsche for it. It's worth about 2K. Well worth it. Out of warranty, these cars are EXPENSIVE to fix especially if anything major goes.

You can drop 2K on one visit with a snap of a finger on any non warranty issue. The best insurance (with highest probability of needing) you'll ever take out.

I would not buy a preowned Porsche without it.

CPO is definitely worth the minimal amount of cost. Personally, $2,000 for 4 more years of insurance is about $42/mo. $42 per month is definitely worth the peace of mind in my opinion. However, some people don't care for the peace of mind that insurance brings so they neglect extended warranty, life insurance, diamond ring insurance, etc... Which person are you?

I would highly suggest saving up a few more months or increase your budget (not sure of your financial situation) because higher miles means that she has been through more.

The car with 1,200 miles could only last 70k while the car with 44k could last 200k and we will never know. However, that's a dice game I don't want to play. I hope that the "odds are forever in my favor" (weird to use that reference as I don't really care for that series)

The low mileage cars at non-porsche dealers are heavily pushing "premium" aftermarket warranties for less money than what CPO would cost and are "superior than the CPO warranty".
I am generally suspicious of such warranties (and dealers for that matter), but I am wondering if that may be the next best option.

I've heard there are some decent ones. I don't have a lot of knowledge with them. I know you can even get a warranty on your own if not buying from a Porsche dealer. I wouldn't pay a premium and buy one from a selling non-Porsche dealer.

More "superior", not sure about that one.

If you find the perfect car and deal from a non Porsche dealer I'd go for it even without a warranty and maybe look for one on your own.

Do research on different warranty companies. I got a bit scared when I saw all the hoops that many people had to go through to get their cars fixed under warranty. I want one that I take the car to the shop, they give me a rental, and I come back when it is done.

Some companies are better than others. There is a guy on this forum who owns a dealership who seems to like Fidelity.
