Xpel Interfering with Entry and Drive Frunk Opening?

I just had an Xpel Ultimate full front wrap and Opticoat coating done on our 911s cab equipped with Porsche Entry and Drive. (Let's not debate coatings please). Since picking up the car the Entry and Drive "magic hand wave" over the frunk no longer works - the frunk will not release and I have to use the remote key fob (which does work). Has anyone with an Xpel front wrap and Entry and Drive experienced something similar?

I have it wrapped and no issues. It still works for me.

It did work for before?

(Nice car - assuming that's yours in your avatar)

Yes - it worked fine before. I I'm interested because I had a bumper-off chip repair done prior to the wrap and I'm wondering if they forgot to reconnect something. I'll have to check with the dealer service to see whether or not that would throw an error message.

Thanks for the quick reply. The detail shop I used is very well regarded in the PCA regional and the owner also indicated I shouldn't be having any problem.

It is mine. First 911 and I love it. I bet they never got it connected. Easy to forget

Good luck

I had the same thing done on mine. No issues with the frunk. Still have to put the key a distance from the car when washing to prevent an opening lol.
Just a simple touch of the crest with one finger and touch another to the bumper and it pops open. If you had the bumper off, I'm with the others on something not getting connected back correctly.

Mine doesn't work right anymore.
Had K40 installed and Front Wrap.
Sometimes when I'm wiping it dry it will open randomly.
Not like it's suppose to anymore.
Wrap is Awesome at keeping chips off front end.
Not really a fan of entry and drive anyway.

Well today I was futzing around the front end and kept trying various combinations of body position, key/pocket, cell phone/pocket, hand position, distance from the front fender, etc. Strangely enough, sometimes it worked - quickly, but then sometimes after floating my hand around a bit, and 60% of the time not at all. The car was sitting still and the engine was off.

Very strange. I'm going to ask the dealer this week to get yet another (set of) opinion(s).

Thanks to you all - with the amount of variability in the answers I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the variability of the E&D frunk sensor repsonsiveness!

I don't wave my hand, I just hold it right above the sensor. That seems to work better.

Bad choice of words on my part. I hold my hand steady. Given other comments I've recieved, it might have to do with the Opticoat. Oh well - hardly the end of the world!

Case closed, combination of factors. The function works, but one must be very steady and in very much the right location (below and slightly to the left of the badge). I think the combination of the Xpel AND the Opticoat reduced the sensitivity. (I worked with Porsche Bellevue on this today - they were very helpful even though they had nothing to do with creating the situation.)
