My car was 30K off sticker for 2,600 miles and CPO. I'd rather spend that 30K on myself elsewhere than donate it to the sales guy and Porsche's bottom line. The previous owner did that on my behalf. Thanks buddy!

Maybe I'm kind of selfish?

Exactly what I did. 3300 miles on it, 114.5K sticker, paid 83.5K with CPO. New is for suckers.

I completely see your point but ordering brand new brings three benefits. These of course may or may not outweigh the tremendous savings of getting a slightly used car... it all depends on personal preference. FWIW, I think ordering is good when: 1) the right combination of options is important to the buyer and those desired are not common, 2) how the car is "broken in" is important to the buyer 3) the car will be kept a long time (decades) by the buyer, i.e. TCO (total cost of ownership) includes a lot of factors in addition to purchase price. These points lead me to pay tens of thousands more, as you correctly pointed out, over what I could have purchasing a 991 CPO or, for even less, on Craigslist. For me, it was worth it.

I've had (only) two Porsches, a 981 BS and a 991 C2s cab. Both were CPO. Great deals - the program is great. Also had a Mercedes CLS550 CPO. I feel good about letting someone else eat the depreciation. In the 991 that was $42K off the MSRP from the 4/12 launch date until we bought it in Dec 2014.

Was the original owner a sucker? Probably not. Probably both astute and hard working. New isn't for suckers - it's for people who, for whatever reason, want a NEW new car, not a new-to-me new car.

Sorry to be a nudge, but I don't think the tone of the comment is consistent with the overall 6speed ethos.

I've bought the two Porsches in my siggy used. One was only 60 days and 192 miles used, the other 17,000 miles. That was a good choice for me at the time.

And then I just ordered a new one. Why? I had very firmly held opinions of what options I wanted and (just as importantly) which I didn't want. Went in thinking I'd be ordering a new Turbo, fell in love with the GTS, voila! I'm really enjoying everything except the wait at this point.
