Stuttgart next weekend

I plan on taking a quick trip with the wife to Stuttgart next weekend. Mainly going for the Mercedes/Porsche museums and Porsche factory tour. Any of you who have been there- any notable sights you would suggest. Mind you I'm not a big fan of museums or walking around in cold weather. I have some buddies who are going to meet me there, so hopefully I can get rid of the wife by letting her shop or spa stuff and we can just drink beer all weekend.

Go to the Porsche and Mercedes museums then drive an hour and stay in Baden Baden. Sorry to offend anyone, but Stuttgart never really did it for me. Good long shopping area in Stuttgart though if you're into that or that's what is needed. Regardless have a great trip! I'm jealous

Yes, reserved. No photos of the factory, apparently they make you turn in your phones and cameras with the tour guide. I guess I will draw you guys pictures.

Try to have lunch at Christophorus in the Porsche Museum. Top Floor.

Mercedes Museum has double helix structure - awesome and both Museums accept your Porsche and Mercedes Club Cards for discounts (it's for the fun of it -as opposed to the actual discount, it lets the cute cashiers know you're a member )

Awesome Factory Tour, I've done it.
Setup by my Dealer.
I'm glad I wasn't allowed to take pics...allowed me to concentrate on the factory...not take pics!
Make sure to grab a leather sample...you'll know when you see it!

I second Baden Baden

You and your wife will love Baden Baden. It has an amazing natural thermal spa and a world class European-style casino (think James Bond).

In the late 90's I rented a 993 and drove western Germany with my dad and Baden Baden was more memorable than Stuttgart. Of course, I loved the MB and Porsche museums as well!

The Porsche Museum is in Zuffenhausen and the Mercedes Museum is near Esslingen which while not far apart aren't technically Stuttgart proper. If you mean to see Stuttgart itself, head down to the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) and walk from there down Konigstrasse. That's the center of the city where there are shops, restaurants, some museums and government buildings to look at. I could recommend some specific things but it really depends on what you like to do.

Baden-Baden is nice and the B500 route south of there is a dream drive through the Black Forest. We drove through there to Triberg (which is another great destination).

Stuttgart itself is a great place to stay though, IMHO. Good restaurants, bars, and shopping if you're into that. Go have a nice dinner at Ochs'n Willi. When we did our Euro delivery we stayed in Stuttgart and did day trips out from there every day. Baden-Baden was definitely a highlight.

They put all the phones and cameras in a little basket together. In the rear of the foyer (to the left) there are storage lockers for coats, cameras etc. Cost is 1 Euro but you get that back when you open the locker you'll find your coin on the inside of the locker door.

Chrstophorus restaurant (Closed Mondays) is excellent but you do need a large credit limit on your credit card as it's extremely expensive.

Enjoy your factory tour. I'm scheduled for my 14th Factory Tour in May!

Whatever you do, DO NOT eat at Sam Kullman's Diner !
Plus, you could visit the Nurburgring ...

I think the Nurburgring is closed this time of the year and typically opens in April
