Commuting in a 991
Commuting in a 991
How long is your commute in your 911? and how comfortable is it for longer commutes? I wouldn't say I have a really bad back but... I do have my moments of misery. I am starting a new job and I will have some longer commutes coming. e.g. 2 hours one way or 50+ miles. and I don't want to be a cripple by the time I reach my destination.
I am considering a 2014 C4S.
Thanks guys!

I commute in my 991s 48mile round trip 5days a week Porsche seats are the best. I taken many 1000mile round trips from north carolina to florida in a 2007 boxster and those seats were excellent. I never had any aches getting out. Tomorrow im taking my 991s on its first long 585 trip to Tampa and these seats are even better. Cant wait until morning.

2 weeks a month
Very comfortable, seats are great and this is coming from the last three generations of M5s...
The best driving position of any car I ever had or any of the cars that I have...
15K miles in 11 months
Agree with previous comment that it is not an easy car to get in and out...
Can you guys can mention which seat versions you have? 14/18 way?
Getting in/out is no different than any other cars that low is it?
Thanks

I get what you are saying regarding the get in and get out part. I'm 48 and my back isn't getting better so it is now or never if I am going to enjoy it. Plus out of my day getting in and out of the car won't consume more than 1 minute. I think I could endure the momentary discomfort if the actual time of driving the car is comfortable and enjoyable. Does that make sense?

Getting in and out of the car is easy. Just click on the eject button.
Alternatively, to get out of the car gracefully, use this technique...
1. Open the car door and place your left hand on the door sill toward the rear of the car.
2. While turning your torso to the left, lift your left foot and plant it on the ground perpendicular to the car, then lift your right foot and do the same thing. This will leave you facing 90 degrees to the left
3. Put your right hand around 11 o'clock on your steering wheel.
4. Pull, then push, yourself up using your arms which are planted against the door sill and the steering wheel.
You'll never get stuck, stumble, hurt your back, or look foolish, because it's your arms doing all the work and not your legs or back. :-)

I really appreciate the advice!
My car's 14-way sports seats are excellent, but it is a sports car.
You should ask your selling dealer to let you take a car (even a used one will be fine) for a "typical" commute drive and see if it works for you. Only you will know how you will fare.

I had the 14 way seats in my 13 C2 and now have the 18 Adaptive Sports Seats and both are great for commutes. If I use one of the local offices its 26 miles each way and a breeze. Typically the drive alone in my Turbo is the only reason I go into the office.
