Love my c2 but seats are just too damn uncomfortable - anyone replaced stock seats
I have the 18 way and frankly miss the extra cushioning of my old 996's soft leather seats (6' ,170 lbs).
Anyone care to advise on the best step by step method to adjust the 18 way's optimally?

I find the 4-way seats to be comfier than both the 14- and 18-way. The lumbar support in those two always felt like it was sticking out a bit, even when fully retracted. The 4-ways are also cheaper and lighter, though do lack the memory function for when Mrs Rat has been driving and I need to bring the seat about half a foot forward and down again...
I drove a 2011 Boxster Spyder with sport bucket seats. Want to talk about uncomfortable just ask my wife. The seats in my 2014 Carrera 991 are like heaven as compared to the Spyder. Don't understand what you are complaining about.
it is a subjective argument as to what is uncomfortable and what is better or worse. Physiology just varies from person to person. Generalizations are irrelevant as well as ignorant.
I'm constantly amazed at those who want to argue what is or what isn't comfortable or expectations of right and wrong in this area. It is a personal thing.
Some folks have a very difficult time with comfort.. I've always been lucky as I can pretty much be comfortable in just about anything. Yet my father for example bought a new Jag that he absolutely loved except he had to get rid of it because it was so uncomfortable and gave him back issues.
The thing is, some folks just aren't really built for sports cars and either need to be very careful in their selection or drive a true luxury car or suv.
For the most part I find little difference in the comfort level of the 4, 14 or 18 way seats. Just a little more adjustment in the 14 or 18.. But maybe that additional adjustment is the difference for a few folks but I couldn't tell the difference. But it is hard to make a generalization as to which is necessary.
IMHO the 14 provides a good level of adjustment and probably is a good point to start evaluation for most folks. Some seem to have issues with the 18 and the width with the bolsters.. Some find the 4 way too basic.
My guess is that if you try the 14 way and it is basically ok, then experiment with the 4 or 18 to see what's best.. But if you are miserable in the 14, then a 911 may not be the car for you, at least if you have to spend much time in it.

Well said, and accurate.
Also, consider when the option of heated and or Cooled seats has been checked. When I test sat in the 18 way with heated and cooled, it felt like I was sitting on, well, a pad under the cushion. Not really noticeable but still I could feel it. I just want quality seat under me and nothing else...
You really can swap out any seat, but it will be costly...
I have the 14 way power seats with the heated/cooled option and have always found them to be comfortable ... I am really picky when it comes to seats in a car so I am surprised to hear this ... I've had my car for 3 years and never thought otherwise ... just to give you an idea of where I'm coming from I have the incredibly adjustable multi contour seats in my 5 series so I really am picky when it comes to comfy seats ...
This post is more for people seeing this post and am second guessing their decision on which seats to get because I know I would be worried if I ordered the 14 way power seats in my 991 and then read this post.
To the OP ... I'm sorry you are having the problem and hope you find a solution !! please don't get offended.

There might be some thing with new seats.
OP, is your car a 15?
I never had a complaint on 14 way seats, in any loaner cars I had, untill I got a 15 Panamera.
The bottom cushion was very hard and uncomfortable, to the point it numbed my bottom side.
I have no idea why that was.

I bought my 991 off the lot and got a killer deal on it. I had some reservations about it being a low-option car, but largely it was irrelevant. The only two things I wish it had were XM radio and better seats (mine are the base). The seats are OK for around town and short trips, but for hours on the interstate I find I am squirming around in them. I keep my eyes open for either one (driver's) or a pair of black 14 or 18 ways, but haven't seen any come up for sale. They can't be any worse than the standards.....
I own and operate a furniture store. I get asked twenty times a week on which is the more comfortable sofa or chair in my store. It's a question I can never answer as its subjective. What feels good to one won't necessarily to another. All you can do it try them out and see what works for YOU.

Keep in mind the leather option makes a difference. The non upgraded leather is very stiff. The full leather interior option makes the seats so soft and supple. The 14 way is amazing in my opinion when equipped with full leather.
Have 18 way ventilated seats in the 15 TTS and Alcantera 18 way in the PGTS. I am 195 lbs and 6' and the seats are the most supportive that I have experienced, especially for long drives. Don't have experience with the 14 way, but very much like the bolster options on the 18 way seats. They can be adjusted for a firm fit if one is tracking or easier fit for DD. My reference point on seat comfort is the Audi A8, which has articulated, multi-adjustable seats with massage function and ventilation, but are not as supportive as the 18 way Porsche seats. It is the firmness of the seating surface that distinguishes the Porsche and that provides support.
I haven't seen the seat but I think the Cayenne, although comfy, would have a much higher seating position than the 911.
OP--> Please call the dealer and ask if either the 14 or 18 ways are swappable. If not, Than take it to an upholstery shop and tell them to customize a seat for you.
Let us know what you find out.
I've swapped 997 Comfort (with memory) for Adaptives many times in the past, even Adaptives from a Cayman and Boxster to a 997 with no problems
But I'd love to know if you can swap 14 way to 18 way in the 991
My friend has offered me his 18 way Sport Seat plus out of his 2014 Boxster and putting them in my 2014 C4S........this would make my day/week/year (connectors seem the same at least, but having them shipped across country only to have them not work would be pretty crappy)
I did call my local dealer today to ask if it was possible but they were useless.
I mentioned that I had swapped seats in my 997 before and asked if the seats were interchangeable in the 991.
Not only did he say the swap in a 991 wouldn't work but INSISTED that the 997 swaps I did in the past couldn't have worked as 997 Comfort and Adaptives were not interchangeable whatsoever,,,he almost went to the point of calling me a liar.......gotta love ignorance
Hopefully someone else will get a more valid answer from their dealer
