Painted trim and bits

I'm in the process of configuring a Club GTS and wanted to get some interior bits painted to match the exterior. First question, can anyone shed light on why it would cost $2225 to paint the PCM trim? How can it cost that much to spray plastic? more that optioning actual, additional engineered parts? The up-charge for the Aerokit fixed spoiler is only $1000!

Secondly, has anyone tried taking off the PCM trim and custom painting it themselves? I've seen whole PCMs, including the electronics on eBay for $800 so it seemed a much more economical way to go.
Is there an issue with the thickness of the paint to snap on and around buttons?

I understand the Porsche tax but this just seems exorbitant and am embarrassed to even consider spending so much on a piece of colored plastic (the good thing is only we know how much it is). And I am considering it only because it's the special Club that I'd like to further accentuate and differentiate from the other GTSs with its special color.

It also seems that you cannot order painted trim for all the center plastic bits if you get the GTS interior package. they have all the parts available but it is a "conflict" somehow - I don't get it, get part xyz from bin 123 instead of the other.

Lastly, we know there is an option for exterior badge or lettering delete. Is it possible to have it just uninstalled? Meaning I want the lettering but just leave it in the glovebox for me to install.
- I'm getting the ducktail and would like to put the "Carrera 3.8" lettering on the underside of the tail, justified right, like the old RS that will give "P O R S C H E" room to breathe, alone on the rump, without "911" as it is quite cluttered with all the lettering there.

It seems "exclusive" has many limitations, and is not to be confused with custom as they would have you believe by talking so much about personalization.

If anyone has info on a paint shop that has worked on these interior bits in the tri-state area, or anywhere, please advise or recommend.

Thanks
