config questions on GTS

Hello all,

Considering a GTS and have a couple questions

1- I think Alcantara is cool BUT is it cool long term or a pain? Will the wheel start to feel rough and not smooth like leather would long term?

2- will SPASM lower the car another 10mm (as in Carrera S) or just stiffen the ride?

3- do I really need LED headlights?

thanks

1. There's been a lot of discussion about this, but if you like alcantara, you should go for it. However, I'd avoid alcantara on the steering wheel if for no other reason than staining over time from the oils on your hands.

2. Car will be lowered 10mm further and the suspension will be slightly stiffer.

3. Absolutely not. LEDs are cool looking, but they absolutely do not illuminate the road significantly better than xenons.

The rental GTS (2015) I had from Avis Stuttgart last month had the Alcantara steering wheel and I found it very slippery to hang onto with/without driving gloves. My buddy who also rented one had the same comment. I'd go with leather wheel as I have on my own 991S.

That is some strange Alcantara on the wheel of the rental GTS. Alcantara is anything but slick. Considering it was a rental car, maybe a previous renter greased it up with lotion or something.

I wouldn't base any decision on an experience in a rental car.

There's a reason porsche puts alcantara in all its GT and cup cars... it grips better.

The Porsche alcantara is one of the best when comparing it other manufacturers, however, if you are constantly touching it, it's going to collect a bunch of dirt, oil, and grime. Its like having a shirt for a steering wheel. If you want to keep it nice, you have pretty much clean it after each use.

I think I will stick w the leather steering wheel but get the alcantara on the seats, I think that would be an ok combo.

Make sure and take a look at the GTS Interior Package if you are going to get the Alcantara on the seats. You can still get a leather wheel if you want it with that package. In my opinion, the GTS Interior Package really sets the GTS off from a regular Carrera. It is expensive, but well worth the cost in my opinion.

Yes, car was a rental car but was brand new with no previous renters (in both cases). My car had 15km (9 miles) and the other 12km (7 miles) on it when we got them. I stand by my comments about the steering wheels being "slippery" in both cars.

Sat in a GTS with the proper GTS Alcantara package yesterday. It feels amazing, and it looks gorgeous. I don't understand why anyone would spec this rare model with the typical leather interior (except $$).

Go for the GTS interior package; it's stunning. You can still spec the sport design steering wheel in leather so you don't have to worry about wear on the steering wheel. LEDs look really awesome. I happen to think they work a bit better than the xenons too. And the auto-bright function with the LEDs is pretty neat.
