Leaking Blue Stuff...

Hey all- was out for a 25 min drive Tuesday. Bright sunny day, about 80-83 degrees. No warnings or other messages on display at any point. Pulled into my garage, and when getting-out noticed some drips on the garage floor, and looking back drips at even intervals all the way up my driveway!

At first I figured it was just condensation release as I had the A/C running. But as I looked closer, I noticed it was blue-ish... Here's some pics:

As I looked closer, I could see that the fluid had been coming from the joints between panels as shown in this pic:

I looked around that area, and didn't see any new drops falling. I grabbed a white paper towel and inserted between the panels:

Pulling it out, I found the blue stuff soaking into the towel....

Not a lot, I know. And my immediate assumption is that is must be windshield washer fluid, based on color -- no smell whatsoever, not even an alcohol smell!
I then touched same towel to the spot just under the edge as shown:

And more blue stuff... but some of this was "dry" almost and much darker.

I open the hood an removed the plastic cover, so I could check the washer fluid bottle (thinking maybe the plastic lid was off and it had splashed, or something like that....) and lines going to it -- but all looked good, and it was all dry there.

So, a bit of a mystery where this fluid was coming from. I don't believe I ran thru any puddles or anything like that -- for the most part the entire day was dry dry dry. And I could only find traces of this blue stuff in that one particular spot just behind the wheel well....

Any thoughts? Guess I could take the wheel liner off to see what's behind....

I think you may have to take off the wheel liner to be certain.
If you use your wiper fluids for about 10 -15 seconds does it being to ooze out again?

I'll give it a try when I get back to the car. But I haven't used the wipers or headlamp washers but once last winter!
I know the washer fluid line to the headlamp washers from the fluid resevoir runs down thru this particular fender, so more than likely this hose is leaking somewhere inside. Maybe only a small amount....
Thanks!

It really couldn't be anything but washer fluid. Nothing in the 991 is that color other than washer fluid.

You do a lot of DIY projects to your car. I have read some of your blog postings. Helped me with a laser jammer installation I just completed. Any chance you could have disconnected or loosened a washer fluid line in the middle of one of your projects?

I guess there is always that possibility, yes! But this is so random in that I haven't touched anything in that part of the car for almost a year... I suspect that the leak is coming from where the washer fluid line connects to the headlight washer line just behind the drivers-side headlight inside the fender. Either that or I simply drove thru a puddle of the stuff nearby....

There is a Porsche washer jet carrier (also known as a hose) that may have come loose.
The problem is that the leak could be trickling all the way back to the fender, even though its no where near that area.
