7MT short shift kit

Does anyone have any experience with the short shift kit for the 991 being offered by Suncoast?

According to their website, its a factory part (but not factory authorized or approved?)

Thanks in advance.

I think we're all simply pleased with the standard 7MT. (I'm also curious if the SS kit offers any noticeable improvements).

Still can't get my head around "factory part, but not factory authorized or approved". Wonder if a dealer would even install it.

Thanks for the reply, i could definitely use a shorter throw so long as it didn't bind or cause mis-shifts. The stock throw is pretty substantial in my opinion. Particularly if youre going through all 7 gears!

The 991's 7 speed manual throw is way better than the 997 stock version.

When I bought my 997, I was upset that you could not order a shorter throw from the factory. It made no sense to have to have the dealer install it for my 997.

My dealer's "Meister Mechanic" always helps me spec my new car orders. He knows his stuff and was promoted to the Regional factory rep.

I asked about a short throw for the 991. He told me the 991 stock shifter performs the same way as the old 997 short shifter kit did. I live in New Jersey and agree that it is less "notchy" in cold weather. It doesn't bind or cause mis-shifts. It is just right.

+1. We 7MT folks are here, but most aren't interested.

The factory 991 shifter is absolute perfection, and the length of travel through the gears is relatively short already.

I REALLY liked the shifter in my 981 Cayman S. Coming from that, my C2S is a bit of a let down.

I would rate the 981 MT up there with the S 2000, but the 991 MT is pretty good.

If the 981 is my personal benchmark at a 10/10 (I havent' driven a ton of MT cars)

I would rate my 991 at an 8/10

I would rate my BMW 335i at a 7/10

7MT here - but the stock shifter is so perfect I have no need to mess with it.

+1. Stock shifter is just about perfect. Hard to see what could be improved.
