Smile Door card aluminum strip? How? Why?

Hi guys-
I've upgraded my sweet base Agate grey cab to an even sweeter Guards Red Carrera S cab. Lucky me! Lots of new performance options, better everything, etc. I'll get to the overview later. Lot to discuss. However, there's one thing I'd like to know more about.

The base cab has full leather hence the aluminum strip just above the door pull. My S cab has standard leather and just a black strip. (See attachment). What I'd like to do is get that aluminum strip back. Not to pretend this car has full leather. I don't really care, but I like how it breaks up the door panels.

The dealer told me I have replace the entire door panel at a huge cost. This can't be right. Do any of you have experience doing this swap?

Thanks much!

Alec

They are absolutely correct. Porsche does not sell the strip. You would have to replace the whole door card. I had a C2 with the same basic doors and looked at several sources.

I would inquire with Suncoast if there is an aftermarket option.

In Carbon there are options

I read their description and it states can also get in silver vs carbon fiber. Just don't know how well double sided tape would hold up.
