Question Passenger Door Lock Mechanism / Door Panel

The passenger-side door lock mechanism has self-terminated in the locked position, and I've ordered a new one. Problem is, the driver-side key, central lock and inside passenger handle do not release the door to remove the door panel and access the lock mechanism. Is there a clever magical way to release the lock without mangling the door panel with closed-door removal? PART 2: Does anyone have experience removing the door panel (and releasing the 9 retaining clips) from a closed/locked door perspective?

Quite a predicament. Your situation appears near impossible to remedy. If I were in yours shoes, I would first attempt to unlock the door with a slim jim. Just a thought. Good luck.

The interior door handle cable mechanism is mechanical and you should have been able to pull to open. If not, I have no answers for your first question. However, there are multiple videos for the 996/986 door panel removal located on YouTube. The locking mechanism itself is a little more difficult as you have to align the key pin into the mechanism before seating it in place to bolt up. If you need help PM me. However, I'm out of town until Saturday.
