80k mile report V8V
About 2 weeks after getting the 2007 V8V it became my dd good weather car. I have a long history with British sports cars and was prepared from the outset for the typical issues accompaning ownership, though I was hopeful as the model was developed and built under Fomoco tenure. I change oil every 5k miles using german made oil. (liqui moly 10-60) Changed the trans oil twice. I have an indy garage with a lot of race prep and exotic experience service the car and keep everything up to date. Have had zero mechanical issues. I have AML power upgrade and high flow cats. The cel lights occasionally when cold and when driving like an old man, also secondary air injector fault occurs occasionally after WOT. Cars is on it's 4th set of tires since new, 3rd and 4th PSS. Have cracked two RR wheels, (both repaired) attributed to running over horse shoes and hitting Pot holes with under inflated tires. The paint is soft and have had front of car and rockers resprayed twice. (Considering n400 or v12v sills) The interior painted surfaces will scratch if you look at them too long, the seat belt is situated to aid in dinging of door arm brace when in a hurry to fasten the belt. Takes a long time to fill the wind shield wiper fluid tank. My car has the noisy oil pump at start which I like as when the tank is topped up after an oil change it is barely detectable but grows louder with oil consumption (which is minimal in my case) and can now detect the add one quart sound. Have replaced front breaks once and rear breaks once. (Have a spare set of rotors and wheels when needed) It took 15k miles for the rears to stop squealing. The RR bushings need changed as the "hop" is becoming a little more pronounced but I do not consider it dangerous or impeding any enjoyment. I am on second battery and did not experience any of the gremlins or problems others have posted with failing batteries. The clutch is original and seems fine. I avoid backing up as much as possible and have driven manual cars life long. The V8V is way to much car for 95% of the driving I do, but that 5% of the time.....

Very nice update, thanks for sharing the information. Glad to hear you are getting your money's worth and proving that these are reliable, well built machines.
Can you share some pictures of the interior wear? It would be nice to get an idea on what to look out for.
I hope you enjoy at least another 80k out of that beauty.

80k miles wear
@#%$ safety belt damage
80k miles wear
The weather stripping wear and tear and belt damage are the most noticeable detractors. I do not remember if the leather was a premium option but it has worn much better than other AMLs I have seen with fewer miles. I actually like certain aspects of the wear aside from what is seen on the bolsters. I was informed that a specialist would have no problem reckoning it to nearly new condition. It does not hurt that I weigh 155. The arm rest is a lost cause. Touch up really does not work. I will, at some point, replace them and fit something to prevent future damage. Not sure if it is unique to the way I hurridly attempt to fasten the belt or my cars belt. I am a little fussy about how I keep the car but drive it all the time and the interior has stayed very nice, i believe in part, because of the calibre of materials used. I have leather floor mats with red stitching that are looking aged. There is wear on cruse control buttons and read button. I am careful to press with finger and not a nail. The back shelf and all carpeting looks new, (rarely rain driven) and the removable lifting/folding trunk shelf is now a gray blue that some what matches the paint color.

Awesome, i appreciate your write up and keep bringing the mileage up to 100K mile club, some time when you see the wear and tear they give a good feel that you drove the car and it served you the way it should, one more thing IF the day that you gonna sell it come, you will put a reasonable price and just let it go, those who turn the car to garage queen they asking a high prices.

Really pretty decent wear for 8-9 years and 80k. The bolsters do seem to take the brunt of the wear on these cars. The safety belt damage was caused by closing the door on the buckle? If that isn't it it's just from rubbing of the belt itself?

When I grab the belt to fasten it, the metal "Tongue" passes that spot delivering a glancing blow when I am in a hurry or forget. I think I will remove them both and repaint and incorporate a protector to that area. Also the belt itself has worn. Also neglected to mention the sills are a bit delicate and will mar and scratch easier than one might imagine.
