I’m wondering what you do if the car is out of warranty? I bought my low mileage 2012 S and didn’t even notice this till i got the beauty home. I want everything perfect so I’m wondering if anyone has had luck at a upholstery shop.

For what it’s worth, the new door panel replaced under warranty used the same adhesive. I was hoping they would use clips or something better! A new panel outside of the warranty was quoted around $3500

Yikes that’s a lot for defective cards. I guess I’ll visit the local custom upholstery shop and see what they can do.

Same issue

The dealership replaced both panels under warranty and my car was in the shop for over a week as they had to be ordered from Germany. Not sure what causes this separation but I've read that it's the adhesive used. If you need the part numbers let me know, I still have the invoice.
Hi, I have 2013 boxster S and saw the same issue recently, does it still gets covered or is this outside warranty? Thanks for the replies.

It is only a potential problem on non-leather door panels and it occurs on several model years.

I have leather doors and it’s also happening.

Then you are the first! It must be a different problem. Reads some of the threads in here and you will see what I mean: https://rennlist.com/forums/search.p...rchid=37950089

The link didn't work.

Edit: And I don't know why my screenshot displays so big.

Go here and search for "warped panel" : https://rennlist.com/forums/991-221/

Every case reported thus far has been on the non-leather door panels.

This is a known issue my wife's Boxster S had this happen 1 week after warranty expired.
My dealership called Porsche NA and worked out a good faith repair as I am a multiple repeat Porsche owner.
Bottom line heat is causing the warping get a good window tint to control the temp. Porsche didn't confirm it just my guess.

Other option put Two screws that look nice thru the panel into the metal. I have several friends that did it that way.
Seems to be ongoing problem in 981, 991 series.

Do you have any pictures of what the 2-screw fix looks like? And is that an official dealer-fix, or DIY workaround? (Do the 2 screws not interfere with airbag deployment? Don't want to turn the door panel into a fragmentation grenade.)

No the official dealer response it to replace the panels roughly 2k each depending on leather in car.
Friend with screws in door not around and the other friend had a local interior repair shop re-glue the door panels.
He was told the new glue is much stronger then what the OEM used. So far he says its been 2 years and all is good.

It is amazing that these panels are separating so soon.
These are EXPENSIVE cars and it is unacceptable for interiors to be separating after just 4-5 years.
I cannot imagine what these interiors will look like in 10 years.
Porsche should step up and address this issue, but I'm not holding my breath..

Both my doors have done this in my 2013 C4S... I took off the panels and ran a strip of 3M trim tape on the underside of the panel, then reinstalled. Hopefully I won't have to take them off anytime soon... If so, then I'll be pulling off a bunch of sticky tape and re-taping again. It holds the edge back down though and looks normal. Might be able to do the same with some velcro if you glue it down good so you can remove a little easier. Mine is 2 months out of warranty when I noticed. I had an appointment to have the dealership look at doing a good faith repair, but with the current zombie apocalypse, I haven't been able to make it to the dealership.

Current fix is holding, so I may just not worry about it depending on when I can get to the dealership and what they say. Sucks, but in the scheme of things, I still love the car and s#!t happens. Not what you expect out of a 6 digit car, but everyone makes mistakes.
