Engine Compartment Lifts

I have a 2012.5 991 and the lift hydraulics for the engine compartment have gone bad.
Has anyone here had this happen? Has anyone here changed them themselves, and was it easy or difficult?

Thanks, Bill

Yep, had it happen. Warranty took care of them. Couple threads on here with others experiencing the same thing I believe too.

I have changed the struts on other vehicles and it wasn't bad at all. A couple clips and they pop off, I don't know if it's the same on our P cars or not.

Keep us posted!

There's another thread on this. Turns out it's happened a bit. I had mine changed under warranty.

I'm thinking that it is a function of never having to open the engine cover. We frequently open the frunk and the lift seals are exercised and lubricated. We rarely open the engine cover and the lift seals are routinely heated and infrequently moved...i think this may be the cause of premature failure.

After replacing the struts a few months ago I now routinely open and close the engine cover a few times a month. I will let everybody know if they fail within the next four years.
