No discount at all - these sellers really ned to get down off one's high horse...

They can ask those prices and hold firm...because they know they can.
Porsche's are Fantastic cars, and we buy them at those high prices.
Just common supply and demand.
OP, it's just as you say - location makes a huge difference in what discounts are available.
I agree with the earlier post: figure out what it's worth to you to buy local vs. have the car shipped. You may have to monetize the value of making the purchase locally and add that to shipping costs. Bring your number and talk with the local dealer, see if he'll meet you where you want to be.
If he's not able to sell you a car at a price you're happy with, I'd try to end it positively suggesting you'll still look forward to spending money with his service department over the years. If they can sell the allocation for more to someone else, great for them, and they can still make money servicing your new car.

On a 991.2 build totaling $110k, I was offered $5k discount from two dealers in central Illinois. I tried for 5%, but was turned down. As this car will be for Euro Delivery, I didn't want to press more for the discount as I knew this deal was going to be a PITA for the selling dealer with more work needed before the car finally arrives back in the USA on their doorstep.
