What is the best time to place an order for a '17 911?
I'm thinking about swapping my S6 to a 911. Still debating on the CPO vs. new '17's route. But assuming I do a custom order for a '17: Is there a certain time of the year that's better to place the order to get the best deal? I remember hearing that the end of the year is best. So far, the best quotes I got were ~4% off MSRP on the new car, which is coming out over budget for me. What's the best I can expect to get? Thanks!
5% seemed to be the highest discount reported for a custom order without any unusual circumstances. You're pretty much there. My dealer ran my private car sale as a trade in and sale by their dealership to net me savings of the sales tax on the cari sold. That decreased the cost of the new car.
If it's just out of budget, try a few new builds with a lower price target - well under budget if possible - and take a test drive. If you're looking at a C2S, give a C2 some though. It's a great car. Most of us check a few options that honestly wouldn't be missed after the car is delivered. You might save yourself some money on things that weren't really important to you. Far better than nixing the car entirely.
Not it sure on season but end of the year is typically a good time. If Porsche makes a mistake and gives out too many allocations in a quarter that's when discounts will be around. They're being a lot tighter with allocations/production on the 991.2 to help preserve sales at or very close to MSRP. It seems to be working out the way they want.

Thanks for the info! How far away are we from the 992 reveal? I'd imagine that would drive prices lower on the 991.1/991.2? Although I guess we're talking about just a couple of percentage points here and the 992 is probably still 1-2 years out?
