Not even safe to park!
The good news is that my front bumper will be repainted.
So, a few weeks ago there was several inches of rainfall in Los Angeles. Knowing that street conditions would be terrible, I kept my GTS parked in my underground parking space where I live...I left it there for 5 days and used the Cayenne when I needed to go out. However, when the rain stopped and I wanted to drive the GTS I noticed that water that had seeped through the concrete had spilled and dried on my front bumper. My building management offered to have my car detailed and I agreed, but the detailer needed to use a buffer and compound to remove the dried sediment and, in so doing, burned the paint. Black indeed shows everything! So, now the bumper will be repainted on Monday...courtesy of my insurance.

A thought. This being the first which didn't have a clear bra.
The people that manage this place are truly nice. However, there is limited liability for incidents that occur in the garage. As an accommodation they had a professional detailer detail the car; they also said they will reimburse my deductible for have to have my insurance cover the loss. It's under the comprehensive coverage, so no points against me. Curiously, and I mentioned this to the management representative, there are all manner of exotic and classic cars parked in my garage, including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Bentleys, and RRs, not to mention several vintage Mercs and Jags. Maybe because SoCal hasn't had this kind of rainfall in a long while there haven't been these kinds of issues. Apparently, there were others vehicles that were affected similar to what happened to mine...hopefully, the management will sort this out for the long term.

Thanks. You're right about the rain...we really needed it. On the bright side, I get the scrapes on the lower chin cleaned up.
I drove my 991 out to LA from Florida. I use deionized water to wash my black car in FL. The water in LA is so hard that the water stains in LA wouldn't even come out on the windshield. I had the car detailed and the car looked fine from a distance but there were all sorts of swirls, etc. When I got back to Florida, I had Eddy Fiuza (he is one of the country's premier detailer) do his magic and he was able to get the paint back to it's original condition...$800 later. Hate the water in LA.

If in the future it happens again, forget the detailing. Simple cure is to pour a mixture of 10% muriatic acid/water and flush immediately with fresh water. If 10% does not remove stain, try 15% and try again. I have had this happen to me at least 5 times in my underground parking garage. I finally changed my space to a non leaking roof spot.
