Track experience day
Track experience day
Beautiful day to spend at the tarmac, courtesy of Napleton Porsche, nice track in Joliet, IL- Autobahn
A couple of obvious things from a neophyte:
The .2 base is one brave car, it keeps up with turbos and RS. With a GIAC tune it will be pretty interesting ...
The 991 GTS and RS sound freaking awesome
The car as only as fast as the driver is capable. I say that bc in the midst of turbos, RSs, numerous 911s one of the fastest cars on auto cross was a boxster base
These cars can take a lot of abuse wo raising issues. Brakes and oil temp as if you're driving to work
The track really shows the limitations of a convertible, even with the shocks on. Maybe a I had more fun bc of it, particularly wo PSM
And, gotta do it again and again
Cheers!

My dash cam failed to record. Most likely user operator... I'm going to ask the Napleton folks, I'm sure they have some
Shame as I wanted to post some action showing how the new Panamera and the Macan behave on the track.
Also my scare moment when the engine was almost on fumes and sputtered a little bit when I was pulling some g's. Amazing how the car goes back to a straight line, even wo PSM. As Probst said, it's a driver's car, wants you to hit the gas to stay on line on curves.

The instructors were using macan turbo, Panamera 4s and a 991.2 base
The macan drive better than the pana. That one was all over the place, I believe would need PDCC to handle marginally. It's not surprising given the size.
It's really nice to see a 911 professionally driven, sooo balanced with that engine in the wrong place.
There was a macan base driven by one of the guests, and on that one you could see when the PSM was intervening. It's very aggravating to follow it up close, breaking 4-5 secs before needed...

Very interesting observation, I have never seen either on the track in person. You'd think the 970 would out perform the Macan due to a lower center of gravity.
Seeing a driver that knows EXACTLY what they are doing is like watching an artist its honestly a sight to see.

The macan was the turbo model so it could have some suspension goodies not in the pana 4S. Serves a purpose to show how unnatural a car behavior can be with some dedicated management. I had a 991.1 GTS with PDCC following and he could not keep it up with my humble base 991.2. I think all the .2 models are sleepers...
It is a thing of beauty seeing a pro going over an apex. Very addictive...

And I completely agree with your pro-driver comment, it also gives you a lap time to chase
