991 Console Lid???

Question -
Why is the 2017 Console Lid $90 cheaper than the one made for 2012-2016 Porsche 991?
Looks identical.

Suncoast -
Console Lid with Crest
2017+
#SKUG2991CLR
$439

Console Lid with Crest
2013-2016
#SKU9X1EXTCON

The more expensive one is an extended height one - it raise the elbow up by about an inch I think and makes the cubby space a little bit bigger by adding a bit more height too.

The cheaper one is direct replacement, except with the logo. No change in height or added space to cubby.

First one is top lid only. This option is only for 991.2 owner who wants to upgrade to one with Crest.

Second one is a kit for 991.1 owner who wants to upgrade to a taller console (as in 991.2) with Crest and stitching. It is about an inch taller than the existing one (in 991.1) to better rest your arm. This kit includes new top lid, new lower base, and associated spring.

See installation here

So the price difference is essentially paying for the added lower base and spring, since the leather lid is identical.
Thought I might be able to save a few $.
I remember a year ago when they had these on sale for like $360 - oh well........

Man I think I paid about $239 for my 991.1 S a few years ago...maybe it's inflation?

Diesel-gate?
Reduced size of the lid so the taxes in China are reduced?

Sorry couldn't resist...

The one that I bought for my 997 turbo with the model designation script was $950.

Hopefully that makes you feel better.

No it sounds like you bought the 991.1 version. That is still $239. I just installed one on Friday.

I would have liked the extended height one but they don't sell it in Carrera Red.

Carrera Red is the same as Bordeaux Red as far as I know.

Lid with logo Targa 4 - 9P1 857 151 R OG6

Not really, Bordeaux is a bit darker with less orange hue to it. I believe garnet red is between Bordeaux and Carrera red. At the stealership you can check the subtle differences having the samples next to each other. While between cars the difference may be subtle, a piece in the car may be noticeable.

Carrera red is exactly the same as Garnet red. It's just a name change - there have been discussions of this

here https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ml#post3991521

and here https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ml#post4048742

I have had both Garnet red/Black two tone (Macan Turbo) and Bordeaux red/Black two tone (991.2 Cabriolet) interior at the same time and see no difference whatsoever.

So it is.
I have it in the cabrio as well, almost got a Cayenne GTS with garnet. At that time I had the samples together and the slight hue difference becomes noticeable . Car vs car is difficult to notice, as mentioned. A piece in the trim may be noticeable, depending on the degree of OCD of the owner (which is a common trace on Porsche tinkerers)

It's from my old 997 Turbo, not my current 991 Turbo S. I thought it was quite nice.
