PDK question...

Hello,

I have just purchased a 2018 C2 with PDK.

All my previous 911s have been manual transmission so this is relatively new for me and I'm getting used to the nuances.

Today I noticed that in all modes while driving in manual using the paddles the downshifts are literally instantaneous while the upshifts are a touch slower, even after car is warmed up.

Is this normal?

Normal. Keep in mind the concept is that the PDK is already in 4th when you are in 3rd so pulling the paddle just moves it to 4th while the 3rd side goes to 5th. Only does that up as I recall...

I see, I just assumed upshifts would be as instantaneous as downshifts.

After some long drives the upshifts do become crisper/quicker than when it's cold.

This is normal, and also if you are using sport/ sport+ upshifts do get quicker (and a bit more jarring). You can also add these programs via software upgrades if you are car doesn't have them as well (done by dealer).

Right, manual upshifts in sport plus seem faster (perception) as there is a bit of a kick on each shift when heavy on the throttle.

Still, after a prolonged drive and car fully warmed up the manual shifting (paddles, sport and sport +) improved in crispness but are still not as fast as downshifts.

Do these software updates apply to 2018 models? I will speak to them...
