993 TT VS 993 TT Turbo S
Dude, what a great site!! I put it in my Favorites. Thanks
Here is what I think happened>
It's 1997 and deep in the marketing department the midnight oils are burning.
"Helmut, the 996 is coming out and we still have 182 993tts left over. What should we do?"
"Gott im Himmel!. Ich weiss es nicht! Slap some some paint on der kalipers und non functional carbon trim und some body work und eine kleine extra oil cooler und charge a bunch of geld?"

How's your 993tt doing against original purchase price

Cars are simple supply and demand.
You'd be hard pressed to find a tt owner that wouldn't want a tt S in the garage
And among other things let's make the last 182 cars so they sell for more than msrp 11 years later by 10-15%.

or for people that like different things. everyone can have a 993tt.
the only thing i show off are my son and girlfriend. the only things that truly matter.
it would be like saying "picassos are a joke" because someone with passion about art wasted 2mil on a painting.
cars are about style and beauty. that's it. the more rare the more style.

funny you don't think the rare S is cool but you have a pic of the ultra rare gt2 in your avatar. would you buy the 300k gt2 in the avatar or are they for rich people showing off as well.
Corvette drivers say the same thing about people who drive non-S Turbos, or any Porsche for that matter. The S is a better car than the non S. The only question is whether it is worth the price differential. Most people in society would say that a 1996 993 Turbo at 60k is a joke when you can get tons of new cars that perform better in every way for less money. I guess owning a 993 turbo " is a joke. It's just for people with too much money to show off."
turbo S vs non-s; the differences are mainly aesthetic an din your head
I've had a few of each, the 993 Turbos and the 993 Turbo S's. they are both phenomenal cars, some of the nicest german monsters ever built. If you jumped inside, closed your eyes, and drove, if you didnt kill youself driving with your eyes shut, you'd be hard pressed to note the difference in performance, feel between the two.
the main differences are aesthetic; carbon, Sducts that have no real functional purpose; thats not to say the S doesnt get some performance bumps including a bit more HP, but again, its almost indistinguishable.
that said, while both a great 993 Turbo and Turbo S are gorgeous and classic... the 993Turbo S is just that much more rare. it is that much more collectible.
for me, i could never get comfortable driving the S around as it was so pretty, that i ended up gettng rid of them other than the Artic i still have, which i really dont drive, is a collection piece, which is nice, but not what i really enjoy, which is driving. for a long time i made a 993 Turbo my daily drive and it was reliable, fun, exciting, classy. Then i somehow got hooked on the GT3RS, and thats what i drive these days.
i know a lot of 993 Turbo guys, who , quoting someone on this thread, would love to have a Turbo S. i would say to slow down with that thinking because once you go out of pocket 60 70grand upcharge in pricing, u have a car which is no better per se performance-wise, and isnt as easy to leave in front of the bagel shop while you grab a little somethng to eat when its raining.
both awsome cars.
both awd.

SPG993TT, I couldn't agree with you more, I have a TTS (not quite as low mileage as yours (9,800 miles), and I find myself to nervous to drive it and enjoy it the way it was meant to be driven, so I'm actually contemplating selling it and getting a higher mileage 997GT3RS. However, regardless of what jhargis thinks, I've always liked having a car that isn't as common as others and appreciate the car for it's looks and of course, performance.
