Opinions please

Hi All: Got a call that i have an allocation for a 2011 GT3. Currently have a '07 997 GT3 with a lease ending in July of 2010. Thinking of a 993TT S. Getting tired of leasing and with this market, the TT seems like a nice alternative, but will i be disappointed? Thanks.

993TT S is more of a collector car that you wouldn't want to put any miles on.

It entirely depends on what you want out of it. I drive mine without regard to miles. I don't care if I put 100k miles on it, it will still cost less to own than a new GT3.

It will not handle like your GT3. It will not be as good at the track. It is 12 years older. It is still faster in some ways. It is more rare and will hold its value better. It is beautiful and unique. It is a classic. There will always be a car better than the most recent GT3 coming down the pike. In my opinion, the 993 turbo, and particularly the turbo S, will not be bested at what they are.

I have not driven a GT3, but have been on the track with them on it. They are great road cars for the track. The TTS is not made to be a tracked. The non-S turbo, perhaps.

When I sit in a GT3 I don't feel a thing. I love my Turbo S.

If I could only have one Porsche and wanted to track it, it would not be the Turbo S. If I could have two or more, or didn't plan to get serious about track preparing my one Porsche, I would own the Turbo S. Unless I ponied up for a CGT.

If you buy it right, you won't loose money. It's a classic and it's done depreciating.

My best friend has a 993tt (thats what started my whole love for this car) and, yes, it is kind of a collectors car, but the way I look at it is its a car and more importantly it is a high performance car. It is meant to be driven. I say buy it and enjoy it.

I just got my 993TT back from Protosport in New Jersey with awesome results, the work of John Gulino and Paul Faeta was as usual excellent. We took my 3.8L conversion, twin-plug, GT2 EVO cams, Garrett GT2871R turbo's, and Protomotive plumbing and tuning from last summer's "stage 1," and put on bigger Garrett GT3076R turbo's, set up twin Bosch RSR fuel pumps in parallel (the single pump from last year's tuning went lean at > 1.15 bar boost since the upgrade made so much power and used so much fuel), Brembo slotted front rotors, 993RSR calipers, and created a dream car, retaining the classic air-cooled sound, chassis and style, but made this car faster than any GT3 will ever be:

It is for a 2 valver, not really that hard on a 4 valver. I am not too concern with speed on the 993TT they can hold their own as stock with most contemporary cars however there are days that I feel it can use another 100-150hp more.
