997 C2S for 993 turbo
997 C2S for 993 turbo
Hi all.
I have a 2007 997 C2S, however I've really been appreciating the 993 turbo lately, and see that they are climing in price.
I was considering looking for a 993 turbo.
The 993 turbo is a special car and I think it could potentially appreciate in value, while my 997 is somewhat of a plain 911 and will drop more in value.
Has anyone driven both of these cars and can comment? I need to find a 993 turbo to test drive. I realize it will not be as civil, but I also have a RS60 Boxster and X5, so I'll probably be ok if its more raw.
Thoughts?
Thanks

I have only driven a 993 turbo that has been modified (K24 turbo's, lightweight flywheel, cat delete, protomotive tune) and a stock C2S. I will say that the 993 felt much faster, more fun, raw, and looks so damn good. I would take a 993 turbo over a 997 c2s any day... That is unless I was going to daily drive it. I really think that the 964 and 993 turbo's are the car to buy for long-term value preservation. I hope to make that move at some point.
It's a completely different driving feel all together, air-cooled 993 TT vs 997 C2S.
Very hard to describe but you'll be making the right move if your looking for a more mechanical, raw, communicative driver's car. Within the steering wheel feedback alone it's an absolute difference. TT power will also throw you back in the seat with a big smile!
When I drove a 997 last time, it lacked so much feel and you want to say the drive was so comfortable and artificial in feedback.
The 997s are mass produced, don't expect it to retain much value as it gets older. Air-cooled vehicles have much less production #'s, that along with a huge enthusiasts appreciation only helps it's value stay strong.

Good luck with your decision!

well... Ive driven a few of them both kinds. I love the 993. Although the 996 and 997 cars are so much more forgiving and the driver is assissted much more in making sure the car doesn't get too chaotic in turns and twists. I had a 996 Carrera and loved it. very sophisticated feeling riving experience. Very balanced power and handling. Of course it was still a ton of fun. But, I will say one thing about the 993 turbo that may help you decide. I have never driven a car tht is so much fun to slide around a turn, get the tail end around about 60 degrees only to mash the throttle harder and have the car straighten back out. all the while 4 tires smoking and surging in the same general direction. Barking and hissing turbocharged flat six song in the background. Then when the traction fully comes back on... Hold on. Because its about to get fun. The gearing is perfect to pull strong and almost equally in every gear.

I have a 997 gt3 and a 993tt...... Very different animals........ I love my gt3, and it doesn't get any rawer, but there's something very special about the 993's in general that the water cooled can't get right.....that's the feeling of a Porsche.... He oil smell, the sound, the less assisted mechanicals that is involved, the cabin size it's so intimate in a 993, and then when you throw in the tt........ Is just that much better. The 997 will take a huge hit in value, but the 993 will retain it....... There's no option here
