How do you know its time for a new clutch?
ok, I have a 1997 C2S with 63k miles. I don't drive it too much these days, so the other day I noticed in 2nd thru 4th gear the tach jumps up about 2k and it seems like it is in neutral for a split second every once in a while if I get hard on it after shifting. Also, what's an average price on a new clutch for a 993 these days going for?
Yep, sounds like your clutch is slipping a bit and needs replaced. It could be from normal wear, or if the rear main seal is leaking a bit it will cause the clutch to slip. For prices check out the various forum sponsors or pelicanparts.com typically has prices listed. Be sure and have the rear main seal replaced while the tranny is out. Even if it's not leaking, it's cheap insurance to ensure it won't leak in the near future.
